I find it actually funny that people really do argue that the constitution was carefully constructed to create a government of limited and enumerated powers and then deliberately left loopholes big enough to drive a truck through.

Anyone who seriously argues that with a straight face is either a moron or liar.

Well I assure you I am niether. You have to remember that the constitution was written by men with integrity and honor. 100 yrs laters you have lawyers and less than honest beurocrats and whoala welcome to our current mess. If you study the constitution and read actual words from the founders you will see where they gave us everything we needed.

I was answering to his post, the two clauses he mentioned have been and are used to excuse a completely unconstitutional array of powers the federal government claims to have.

Makes one wonder why anybody bothered to list any other powers in the first place, they might as well have declared the president an elected dictator and have used a napkin to write it down.

Zeb, you couldn’t be more wrong in your thinking.
So I’ve been told by people on your side.

Name one problem that Obama has solved in two years? I can tell you a few he created.

Tell me one fairly tale that I’ve spun about Ronald Reagan. All jabs aside, You could really help me out here. If I’ve said something about Reagan in error I’d like to know about it.

Well, I somewhat agree with you on this, but there is a reason for it. Bush called himself a conservative and then acted like a typical democrat when it came to the topic of spending. His father almost the same thing. He got elected on Reagan’s coat tales (is that a fairy tale? Stop me if it is). And after he was elected he raised taxes. So in effect we have not had a conservative in the White House since Ronald Reagan and even he had to put up with the democrats. If we could actually have 8 years of a conservative republican controlled house, senate and white house I do feel we would be on our way to economic success. Yeah I know I’m dreaming.

I think the Tea Party has some pissed off independents in it too. Also, how is their view of the constitution skewed? And I am curious about that because I have not paid much attention to the Tea Party. I’m just glad they’re around to piss off the liberals.
So think what you may…I could care less whether the DEMS or GOP or “The Pissed Off GOP” takes over…I’m not having an orgasm over any of them.
Really? I feel that I might have one if the republicans take over the house and senate, and my wife comes home early from her PTA meeting on election night.

You see, back in the day, I spent quite a bit of time here. I don’t see any of the guys who actually could uphold an interesting debate around any more (aside from maybe Zeb and even he still thinks Marijuana legalization will damn us all)…which may explain why so many of the topics on this page of the forum are carrying less than 500 views when they used to match all other forums.

Your thinking about these issues seems very limited and non-progressive or even retrogressive. I won’t waste any more time other than to point that out.

Have a great one!
Damn us all? No, not really. I just wonder what good it will do. I want to see things enacted that are actually going to move the country forward. People hanging out getting high doesn’t exactly look like it will improve our math scores, for example.

I am a TEA party guy, and we are not what you see in the news. We simply want the govt to stay out of our lives, and to get back to the principles our founders set long ago. What makes us nut jobs?
Like I’ve already said, I don’t know a lot about the Tea Party, but I do know what makes you look like nut jobs: ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC the New York Times and the rest of the mainstream liberal media. People only know what they see and read in the MSLM. They say your crazy because they are threatened by you. They are in love with the liberal inexperienced character called Obama. And they will do and say anything to make sure that his agenda is passed and he then gets reelected. So get ready to look crazier and crazier to the average voter.

Because hemp production couldn’t create jobs and taxing it couldn’t help us get out of this financial mess the last Prez left us in?

I agree X, hemp will create a bunch of jobs and tax revenue, but this is more then just Bush’s fault.

The one on the left is the 8/28 rally, the one on the right is the 10/2 rally.

No doubt, but at what price? Do we need more kids trying pot? More people driving while they’re high? Why is it that we need to promote drugs to get out of an economic recession?

You have to remember, everything that is wrong in this country (and the world) is George Bush’s fault according to the left. Two years from now when the lefty leaves office they’ll still be blaming Bush. It’s called George Bush Derangement Syndrome, or BDS for short.

Is that like how Conservatives blamed Clinton for everything throughout all 8 Bush years?

Let’s face it, our current economic situation is not because Obama wrecked everything in office. You have the previous 8 year marathon to thank for that.

Is this one of those times that I can label you as being left? I’m going to try to keep track so that neither one of us is confused about where you fall politically.

As for your hero Obama, he’s been a disaster. In two years he raised the national debt far higher than Bush did in eight years in office. And as for national health care, we don’t even know all the horrors that are in that bill yet as, to my knowledge, no one who voted for it even read it. I do know that the facts are coming out in dribs and drabs and it’s not pretty.

As I said on another post, I’d vote for a monkey, a toad, anything as long as we could train it to reject every single Obama idea.

If no one has read it, why would you reject it? Our national debt was raised because of an extended war. Did you miss that whole Iraq thing? I didn’t. Hell, I am pretty sure my next orders would have been to go there.

There is nothing Obama can do, the same way that there would be nothing McCain could do (if he won). Nothing the Dems, Libs, Repubs, Conservatives can do, nothing. This is where the government needs to basically “get out of the way” and let the private sector fix this mess.
