Breaks are fine: they just would need to be short. It doesn’t necessarily have to be exercise, as walking the length of a cell isn’t at all strenuous: it was just a way to mark time.
Hmm, in that case a timer fits the bill!
Yup. Could always just do the DC style deep breaths too. Or, since it was 8-12 paces, just count to 8 or 12 and call it good.
Today’s work:
Standing Cable row straight bar: 60kg X 10 X 5 sets
Bench: 60, 70, 80, 90kg X 5, 100kg X 9 - mis-grooved 9th felt awkward didn’t take the 10th, racked it, skimmed journal to find out that last time I got 10, circa 1 minute doing that then got under the bar again, screw that!) 100kg x 5
Slingshot bench: 112.5kg X 6 X 3
Cable row: 60kg X 10 X 3
Tricep hell:
Ez bar low inc skull crusher: 30.5kg X 10 X 5 sets
S/s
Cable Rope Tri pd: 35kg X 10 X 5 sets
Slightly less agonising this week!
I’m starting to feel the pull of the shiny new things looking at that triceps hell session.
It’s an easy addition, plus its shiny and if you’re doing it right putting jumper on becomes a challenge! What more could you want? Give it a go.
I absolutely will. And probably similar for biceps once i have both gym access and enough calories to make it worthwhile. Definitely like the idea of growing some arms.

Ok guys, you gotta clue me in on this.
Ya’ll want bigger arms. That’s cool, I dig that: I like big arms too.
So we’re gonna go use the “triceps hell” program by Jim Wendler. Ok, cool. …did Jim ever have big arms?
Jim is an expert at building the yoke. Could find no better authority.
I’m, of course, heading to Poundstone Curls with this, but there’s other experts to draw from too. I’m just sayin’…
I need to start doing these. As always, you bring valid points to the argument and make me question everything I’m doing lol
How dare you use basic logic on me! Ok it’s a fair point and you are right - I owe poundstone curls a fair try. I do like the tricep protocol and will keep it up for the time being but Poundstone curls are in!
I am more than certain that the protocol will do an excellent job improving the triceps. Training things is a great way to make them bigger and stronger. Heck, all I’m doing is 25 pushdowns a day myself. But glad you could appreciate the food for thought.
Relative to who?
Not relative. Objectively big.
If Jim’s arms are a size you find worth aspiring to, the method makes sense. If not, it doesn’t. At least to me.
I’m a long, long way from worrying about big. Bigger is probably a more sensible goal for me right now, and Jim definitely has had bigger arms than me.
I do understand your point though, and will think on it when it’s time to start putting mass back on.
Definitely the missing component of my arm training.
Always welcome!
This is how people end up getting hoodwinked by instagram dudes with a 6 pack. It’s why I tend to lean toward the absolute freaks. It doesn’t take much to be above average.
Todays work:
Block pulls 4.75 inch elevation:
60, 100, 120kg X 5, 140kg X 3, 160 X 2, 180 X 1, 200kg X 7, 30 secs, 3. Grabbed the bar unevenly from the outset and tried to muscle through then tried to jump/shuffle my hands into place at the top of a rep. Weirdly enough my grip gave out at rep 7, took 30 secs to reset and then did the hardest slowest reps I’ve done in a long time.
Ohp: 40, 45, 52.5 X 5, 60kg X 11 - wanted 12 but still felt good about this.
BtN press: 40kg X 15 X 3
Shoulders were a bit angry last week which is very rare for me, thinking of these might be the culprit so knocking weight back and making sure they’re done well and going for pump not letting my ego get the better of me.
Poundstone curl (just cos @T3hPwnisher bullied me with logic) - BB X 100, I might have cursed your name during this Pwn, there was a reason I “forgot” about these, they suck so hard.
Done.
I love poundstone curls. Forearm pain for days
I incorporate them into the fitness classes I teach. I get everyone to grab a set of DBs and tel them they must do 100 curls. They can take rests however they are not allowed to put the DBs down.
Love it when they come in the next day with insane forearm and elbow flexor doms
Haha tell me about it for the first time in my adult life I genuinely struggled to open a jar this evening.
