Alex_uk: 40 years in the making

Haha that’s amazing thanks Anna, I would just add that cardio was only recently ramped up, then @Frank_C convinced me that cardio was evil and I should do less, it didn’t take much convincing.

How’s life down under @simo74 ? A full week off sounds like a necessity for you, I took 3 full weeks off and ate no protein and mainlined sugar, it’s a great place to start the transformation from…

Yea that’s going to suck, but sounds like rack pulls should be in your future!

Thanks, between you and Pwn I’ve got 1rm and 12rm! Might just have to try some different weights and see what works for me.

Keep in mind 12rm is just for the first cycle. As weight is added, reps drop. Once I got down to a 3rm, I started over.

And I pulled for a single set, rather than multiple.

I just had a quick search through my old log and found my second cycle of ROM progression deadlifts.

TL:DR:
Looks like I did 5 x 3 @ my 3RM after doing my 531 topset with no PRs

Edit: after a quick skim read it appears that while I thought it was my 3RM, it was probably closer to my 1RM, maybe even slightly over.

Pulling for a single set is where I’m most comfortable, coupled with the fact that 180 felt like 190+ off floor, I’ll stick with 180 for time being, if things change dramatically I’ll adjust.

Particularly important.

How quickly did you increase ROM every week, every other week or some other variant?

Thanks for looking back for me. Hopefully I’ll get over 1rm soon(ish!)

ROM increased every week.

If you Google “Mythical Strength ROM progression”, you will find my blog post where I write up the whole thing in a LOT of detail, to include a weekly video capture.

Perfect thanks Pwn will look it up!

Skipped all training yesterday lots of crap excuses. Trained today:

10 mins cardio beforehand:

Went a bit harder, not LISS not HIIT just 10 mins of something. Will hit up 20 mins later in the day and call that even for yesterday’s cardio.

Squats: 60, 80kg X 5, 100, 120, 135, 152.5kg X 3
Top set of squats was crushing, odd given the weight but my head isn’t in it today and I screwed up eating so hardly surprising.

Chins: 8 X 4 sets
Tri pd: 30kg X 15 X 4 sets (focusing on MMC and squeeze - get the posing trunks out!)

Dips: 20 X 3 sets
Rope curl: 30kg X 15 X 3 sets

Definitely a going through the motions session (that miniscule amount of work too 80 mins). Weight 204.5 and fairly stable, not worrying about this, just hitting my 5 a day and roughly 180-200g of protein a day, still keeping low refined sugar. Homeschooling and lockdown aren’t helping mood and motivation, but my wife and kids are great, bless 'em.

Pulling from height feels awful for lots of people (me included), yet I think there aren’t that many people who actually pull less from height than from the floor. What is your rep PB with 180 kg from the floor?

Most I’ve ever repped at 180 was 5 I think, but I tend not to go crazy on deadlift reps.

Another 10 mins, definitely LISS, owe 10 mins for another day (man, LISS cardio is drugery, HIIT is torture, why does it have to be so necessary!)

Does cardio debt have compounding interest?

No definitely more likely to have an amnesty than interest!

I’m sure I get enough rbc on TRT but not sure that confers any of the health benefits of cardio and seems to not be be overly helpful in making cardio suck any less!

let’s hope not

@alex_uk @Bagsy I’ve been busy and neglected to follow up, but I think I shared with both of you some issues we were dealing with with my daughter. You would both be pleased to know, which is why I’m posting this, that around mid-December there was a dramatic change in her behavior for the better. It’s as if deep wounds were healed.
Not sure why; some parenting technique changes, due to Bagsy’s email, maybe; celebrating a 2-year “gotcha day” (like a birthday sorta), may have played a part; or just getting older and more rational (4 and a half) though I don’t think that explains the rapidity of the change.
Anyway life is good for the whole family here. Have a great 2021!

That’s amazing news, so pleased to hear that and as I’ve said no worries on neglecting a follow up fully empathise with you on having a crazy busy life!

And you too!

You seem to have been doing cardio for a while now, can you confirm that it always sucks and that people who claim to do it for fun are lying?
