Squats Above Parallel is the name of my new Coldplay cover band.
That did make me laugh hard. Love it
15/08/25 - 194
300g carbs, 250g protein, minimal fat today.
Training:
Elbow rehab start: band tri pull downs x 10, axle curls (8kg) x 10, repeat x 10 zero rest, just back and forth.
A1) deads: 60, 100, 120, 140, 160kg x 5
A2) bench: 60, 80, 90, 100, 110kg x 5
A3) cable crunch: 40kg X 8 x 5 sets
B1) rows: 60, 70, 80kg x 8
B2) Inc bench: 60, 70, 80kg x 8
B3) lying leg raises: 8 x 3 sets
Finisher - alternative minutes:
- Sandbag over shoulder 75kg x 5
- Burpees x 5
6 rounds - set a timer for 10 rounds, but the sandbag throws on the 3rd set let me know I was out of juice.
That’s awesome thanks Brandon!
Finished the day off fairly close to the macros:
The fat is higher than intended, but it’s probably a slight overestimate, I ate lean pork that was stated as 4.4g fat per 100g, but I trimmed any remaining visible fat post cooking. I had 2 fat reduced (again sub 5%) burgers and that was what caused the total to be what it was (plus incidentals like oats protein powder etc).
Even if I could have theoretically zero’d the fat I’d still be 400 calories higher than the past week, yet I would say I was hungrier today and particularly noticed the sensation of “needing” to eat much more, compared to 300g protein 50g carbs, 50g protein, 50g fat, which is mad because I had a whole extra meal a substantial amount of calories more.
The carbs were all fairly decent as well, my additional meal was:
Carbs from beans.
Watching this guy fight tonight:
He’s an up and coming Brit, watched all his fights so far and he’s got impressive ring IQ for someone his age/experience level, and great stopping power. I just saw this snippet and a) he’s got great strength for a boxer, interesting that his coach had him maxing out bench just before training camp - seems completely unnecessary at this point? He seems to be genetically gifted for power, but what really made me laugh was his comments on running. I’m with him there.
He doesn’t seem to lack conditioning in the ring, but be interesting to see him in the championship rounds. Tonight will hopefully be a decent test of his later stage fighting ability. Dillian Whyte is an older boxer who’s not looked as sharp in recent fights but is a seasoned and resilient fighter.
Only thing I’m not happy about is it being ppv - for a fight that isn’t for a belt and neither fighter has held a belt (one worth mentioning), sucks but mugs like me will pay!
…wow, guess not.
Lifting all those weights paid off!
Just gotta say that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all your veggies! And… choosing beans for your carbs - that $h!t makes me tear up. You’re a superstar!!
Bloody teachers pet ![]()
It just means you need to try harder. ![]()
For sure, Ituama has serious power! Still want to see him tested but can’t fault him for getting the job done, from the little we saw he positioned himself perfectly always able to take a half step back out of range (don’t think he took a single punch, at least none of any meaning), and he was just composed, relaxed, didn’t rush, despite just how quickly he beat him, he waited for the opening and when it came he didn’t hesitate. Very interesting prospect.
Thanks, just got to make sure I keep it up when I come off cut. It’s easier to chose veggies when you’ve only got 50g carb to play with.
I’m the guy that slacks all year round, but can pull it out the bag come test day!
Morning weight - 193.5
High carb day today. Ultra low carb days to follow (these would be more tolerable if they weren’t also lowish fat).
Training:
A1) Seated OHP: 20, 40, 50, 60, 70kg x 5, 80kg x 4
A2) Sandbag squat: 75kg x 5 x 6 sets
A3) cable crunch: 50kg x 8 x 6 sets
Seated OHP: 60kg x 15
Super short on time, done and dusted in 30 mins. Seeing stars frequently during that, not from breathing, I think going hard and fast combined with a fairly big deficit and quick weight loss, as well as very poor sleep. I’ll recover properly in 5 days, on the beach!
80 x 4 is not too shabby at all. Have you considered trying to start them from the locked out position?
Where was the slacking? I must have missed that day.
I read it initially as he being the guy that wears slacks all year round
High praise from our resident overhead pressing prodigy! I’m reasonably happy with it considering it’s rapidly approaching bodyweight, or rather my bodyweight is rapidly approaching my press - 193lbs/87.25kg this morning. Looking forward to getting back gaining and hopefully hitting 2 plates overhead.
I haven’t, what’s the benefit, stretch reflex?
Nutritionally speaking, my hbac1 has me 1 point off pre-diabetic, which means my love of sugar is catching up to me!
I must confess I have no idea what slacks are.
