Alex_uk: 40 years in the making

Cruising tomorrow, travelling today, starting the nutritional debauchery early:

Using donuts as a carrier for bacon.

Morning weight 197. Won’t weigh again until post cruise, it’ll be interesting.

Told my Mrs last night about post cruise diet plan…that’s expensive, that’s a lot of red meat… I gently replied that actually when her and the kids have ready meals Mac and cheese it’s more than the meat and eggs (not to mention the £45 spent at McDonald’s this week - the meat and eggs will cost about £8 per day, which feels pretty good value to me). I briefly addressed diet by ignoring the red meat but and focusing on the fact that I wouldn’t be eating all of the crap and sugar, so I wasn’t particularly worried.

Interesting how zero comments were made about the health or cost of my breakfast, it’s funny to see how society has been programmed to think about value Vs cost and and what constitutes unhealthy, even the wife of a long-standing meat head.

I always find it interesting what people comment on and think is healthy. I told my parents and friends I’ll have 4-5+ eggs sometimes, you’d think I said I was on drugs. But dessert and beers at dinner, nobody bats an eye!

Those bacon donut sandwiches look amazing. Enjoy the the cruise!

@alex_uk and @Stormblessed You 2 are singing a tune that I’d LOVE to join in on. It really speaks to how deep the nutritional brain washing goes. NO one bats an eye at eating cereal for breakfast, despite the fact it’s highly refined grains bleached with sugar. Donuts for breakfast are the standard. Basically, DESSERT for breakfast is totally acceptable, and, in turn, “breakfast” for dinner is ALSO acceptable, meaning 2 dessert courses, but as soon as you eat more than 2 eggs you’re going to have a heart attack.

I’ve known people that were worried about having “too much protein” at breakfast, who also have no reservations eating about 10 “fun sized” Milky Ways out of the candy dish at work. I’ve known people that are worried about “too much sodium” from electrolyte supplementation that aren’t at all worried about it when it comes time to put away the potato chips.

And Alex, my wife saw the photo of the donuts and thought it was my own log. “When did you do that without me?!” Haha. Enjoy the cruise!

Haha, maybe as one of your family meals? I actually ended up having it again (and adding maple syrup) for lunch - because you can’t leave half a pack of bacon in the fridge!

It’s funny because if the protein came from bacon most people wouldn’t bat an eyelid, so weird the things we get used to.

Yea alcohol is another thing, no one seems to care about, it’s quite literally a poison, and it’s socially acceptable to drink it, in fact it’s expected and nigh on foisted upon people in certain circumstances, but don’t you dare eat too much red meat.

It’s funny I was privy to a conversation where carnivore was being discussed, specifically in the context of someone we all knew, who’d lost 136lb of bodyweight using it, and someone else who struggles significantly with their weight voiced concerns over the health implication. I’m not pro-carnivore (or any specific diets), nor do I claim any major wisdom or insight, but losing 136lb of bodyweight (almost all guaranteed to be fat) has to have a massive net benefit to health.

I am just, I mean, who… who invented that?

Somehow that food is simultaneously disgusting and intriguing.

I need to try it.

Now 530am sat in the dock waiting for breakfast and disembarkation, cruise done.

Lots of food eaten, but lots of steps done, be interesting to see the scale, I feel pretty sloppy, lots of water and bloat, I’d say I’m looking forward to getting back normal eating but it’ll pretty much be straight into BtM 1.5lb of mince and 12 eggs per day!

Back to the grind!

Fridge and cupboard stocked and ready for the first week of BtM, was going to go with 5% mince, but the price has gone up again and since I’ll be getting through a fair volume of this stuff, decided to go for budget and stick with 20% - I’ll drain a bit of it, not really looking to eat 150g of lard a day, I want to save those fats for the cheese!

Also the holiday gave me a chance to restock the humidor!

This is awesome, can’t wait to see your progress on BtM. Have eyed that program forever and it’s just one of those programs that looks so badass. Excited to follow along

9 days ago, this morning - 205! That’s impressive for me, I expect some of that might disappear after I return to normal eating, even with BtM diet I’d guess that I’ll drop a few lbs of bloat and water.

No time like the present .

Feels like T-nation needs a cigar thread, I gather there’s a few aficionados on here.

You got any favourites, any brand loyalties or just whatever takes your fancy? I’m always jealous of America in the cigar department (well apart from the Cuban thing) the tax on cigars over here is absurd, mind you that (and my wife’s disgust) probably keep me from developing Churchill levels of cigar smoking.

Anything Drew Estate is pretty much my go to. Alec Bradley also makes some great smokes. Also love NUB, Cohiba, Oliva and Aston.

Not tried any from Drew, the filthy hooligan and black market will be my first Bradley’s as well.

Assuming these are the blue? I love a good Cuban Cohiba, not tried the DR version.

Another one that’s piqued my interest but I’ve yet to get to! (There are so many and far fewer too opportunities to get to smoking!).

I was really surprised by a cheap American cigar a while back - ICF, didn’t expect much but really enjoyed it.

Have to get your hands on some. Tabek Especial and Undercrown are a couple faves.
For the Bradley’s I love The Lineage.

Typically go with the Red’s or Connecticut’s.

NUB Nuance are very good coffee infused. Highly recommend.

I use a site called cigarbid.com to get most of mine. Do you have anything similar in the UK?
