Alex_uk: 40 years in the making

Weight…202 normally when I drop down it’s because I’ve slacked (read missed a single day of gorging) but that isn’t the case this time, I can only think this time it’s been because I’ve done a fair bit of walking over the last couple of days. I look a little leaner (despite breaking last night at the station and eating about 1k cal of chocolate biscuits).

Time to add PB to my 4 shakes.

Wu: 40, 50kg x 10
Work: 60kg x 17, 9, 8 (34)
Stretch: 70 secs (40 & 30)

Time to go up. Stretch is still so intense, not sure if I’ve got better at getting it right or just worse at holding it?!

Wu: 12.5kg, 15kg x 10
Work: 17.5kg x 11
Stretch: 75 secs

Elbow was being a douche today, got the 11th just to beat the log, I’m capable of more but the pain isn’t worth it, might drop back to light but timed negs.

Wu: 60, 100kg x 10 reg tempo
Work: 120kg x 12 5/15 tempo

Set up was different tonight (used a 4" block instead of plates, worked much better but shortened the stretch position, might have to go for higher next time, still agony.

Swapped this out for:

SSB front squats:
Wu: 60, 80kg x 5
Work: 100kg x 5, 110kg x 5
WM: 60kg x 24
Stretch: 60 secs

Alright that top set was hard, but felt good, my back felt tight coming into tonight, warmed up during then felt tight during this, told myself that it’s an overreaction of my body, and actively tried to brace whilst trying to get my body realise this is just weight baring and not injury.

Picked this because belt squats are getting a little silly and I want to do a BB variation and get back to loading my entire body during squats. This lit me up, but small vmo twinge on WM doesn’t feel serious.

Ghr 20-30rp:

Work: 15, 8, 7 (30)
Stretch: 60 secs

Better throw some weight on, hammies lit up too.

Solid session, behind for the week though.

Edit: forgot to say SSBs are an entirely new movement to me, I’ve seen them before but seeing @T3hPwnisher DC write up reminded me, thanks for the write up really good read (pretty sure I’ve got all the kit mentioned too, gym nerd as well :joy:).

Dude, no joke, as much as I hate training and I talk about how I’m not going to do this when I get older, I DEFINITELY see myself still buying and finding equipment until I die. The culture and history of this stuff is just so fun, and collecting is awesome. Hopefully my kiddo shows some interest at some point and would care to inherit it.

Good to see you solider through some loaded quad work there. Just gotta keep reminding the body that you aren’t dead yet.

Haha definitely feel you there, I still haven’t got much love for it, but always interested in more equipment, I’m kind of lucky that I’m constrained by space, otherwise I’d be constrained by bankruptcy!

Still hankering after a leg press/hack squat combo, and a whole host of machines that I would probably rarely use, heck I’ve got a prowler that’s probably been used about half a dozen times, plus battle ropes similar not to mention the concept 2 and treadmill… Actually the theme there is I don’t use conditioning equipment much. The lifting equipment goes through phases and generally gets use depending on the program, but yea it’s a bit addictive!

Or go for a shake PB. Either most a day or most calorie dense shake.

Haha yea I’ll certainly be drinking a lot more cals!

Any chance you could post up your setup for this? I’m trying to find a way to really nail the muscles on this part but find the majority of my muscles involvement is just trying to to stabilize with the BB on my back

Yea I’ll grab a photo asap, but essentially get the bench up to the rack, so that you can take the bar out sat down with feet already on the block (bar resting on knees just lift it out and back enough to clear the j cups) and go.

Pretty much this:

But with a 4 inch block and you know…clothes (optional I suppose?!).

Morning weight 204. I have purchased PB and started the PB shakes yesterday, it’s a 1kg tub and I’m about 200g in already I think, I’m low key worried about going to hard on PB shakes (they’re delightful), but given the fact I ate 1lb of fatty, salty meat (BBQ, so that’s not including cheese, bread and mayo) for dinner, plus my usual 200g of protein from shakes and 3 other full sized meals, the other day and still lost weight I’m pretty sure I’ll be fine.

About the only thing I’d worry about on the “too much” realm of peanut butter is the accumulation of mycotoxins and possible development of intolerances due to frequent exposure. For me, almond butter would do that, and after too much of it I’d have a severe allergic reaction. Might be a good call to mix up the nut butters for the sake of variety there. Possibly throw an avocado into the shake.

Or swap out peanut butter for REAL butter, haha.

DC w? - A1

Came into this tired (baby has decided sleep is no longer required) and having spent the morning painting outside in the sun, first really nice day this year, pretty sure I’m burnt, stuff aches from life and painting elbow, back and knees, when did I become an old man?!

I did have a BBQ at lunch and a nap (this is the old man but I can get onboard with), but still feeling fatigued (and over 1lb of meat is still sitting heavy!).

DB high Inc:
Wu: 20kg x 9, 30kg x 5, 35kg x 5
Work: 40kg x 10, 4, 2 (16)
Stretch: 60 secs

Absolutely hit the wall, that was hard, but hey +1, it’s a win, definitely not owning the weight sorta feeling yet.

Ohp 11-15rp
Wu: 20, 40, 50kg x 5, 55kg x 3
Work: 60kg x 9, 4, 2 (15)
Stretch 60 secs

Up 5kg instead of 2.5kg because it was easier, and clearly the right choice! Only dropped one rep, delighted with that.

Dips 15-20rp:
Wu: BW, 10, 20, 25kg X 5
Work: 30kg x 14, 5, 2+F (21)
Stretch: 60 secs

Also delighted at this honestly even just the BW warmup felt like a max effort, I was spent and completely convinced that I wouldn’t even be able to do 30kg, let alone beat the log book. Dug very deep to pull that out.

Wgpu:
Wu: BW, 5kg x 5
Work: 10kg x 6, 5, 4 (15)
Stretch: 40kg x 1 min strapped

Time to switch this out, couldn’t dig any harder than I did, so I’m ok with the performance.

Screwed up the logbook but pretty sure that’s 22/15/10

Seated cable row:

Wu: 40, 60, 80kg x 8
Work: 100kg x 25, 15, 10

Done, spent.

That’s a very good point and definitely something I’d not considered, probably close to half way through/500g in 2 days, definitely see how it’d be easy to build an intolerance.

But man drinking PB is cheat code for calories can’t believe I used to drink EVOO

Cream, too.

Great shout there! One of my favorite articles is on the history of cream in bodybuilding. Love looking at what the old school dudes did.

Thanks, I have drunk cream in shakes in the past, but not sure how much I’d be able to tolerate these days. Delightful shakes again though!

Apparently adding in 3k cals over two days moves the needle - 207, highest I’ve been in a fair while!

Thinking of you dude

Genuinely touched by the thought here, you are such an awesome dude and asset to the forum! The timing is also perfect I was just shutting the house up for the night and realising how much the pain is impacting daily stuff (flared up in part by paint rolling yesterday) this was the first thing I saw after having that thought.

Was also thinking how training and diet are just hitting a really good place and I don’t want to have to ease off at all.

Read and watched the videos will get on these ASAP and let you know how I get on.
