If 1 was doing 5 sets, its 5 cleans. Hardly what I would call a lot of work.

Haha, slightly tongue in cheek, but still I find the first rep of an ohp thrown out slightly by cleaning it (I know that’s my poor catch position), and given the cost of a wall mounted chin up bar there’s an easy/lazy solution!

I never do the clean as the first rep of the OH (it throws me out too). I do the clean after the pull ups, then rest however long and then hit the OH from the rack… up here for thinking mate.

Ah, that makes sense - you come up with the smart solutions, I come up with the lazy ones!

Fortunately it’s a non issue for me I have 2 chin up bars and 2 barbells, convenience reigns supreme!

No knurling on my axle. Knurling on an axle is a bit of a taboo in the world of strongman, as many see it as “cheating” in a sport with no rules, haha.

Are you meaning millimetres? I’m used to ml being a measurement of liquid, and since we’re still using the imperial system this is all so confusing, haha. 2"/50mm is a standard size for an axle.

Regarding the pipe axle that @ChickenLittle brought up: that’s a classic solution. To make collars, just wrap a bunch of gorilla tape 16" from the end of the pipe until it’s beefy enough to stop the weights from sliding. That was my first axle.

Yea sorry tired typo! Millimetres mm not Millilitres ml - 2 inch Vs 2.362 inches (50mm Vs 60mm).

Also don’t people use straps with axle? I’d better go smooth for my axle then, can’t risk cheating in a sport I’m not competing in, that doesn’t have rules haha.

Nah seriously smooth seems like the more authentic choice and making training more awkward and being able to still perform seems to align with my goals at present!

Hoping the sandbag will arrive over the weekend!

It happens pretty often on the deadlift, yeah. Axle deadlifts without straps are notorious for torn biceps. However, the axle is also used for pressing, and requires a continental to do so, wherein knurling can be a serious advantage.

That said, people wear grip shirts now, which are so goddamn stupid that it was when I started falling out of love with the sport, haha.

Haha what a crazy sport - they should take a leaf out of powerlifting books, that’s a sport that’s got it all its ducks in a row…

Powerlifting has definitely started to infect strongman, haha. There’s no escape.

I think part of strongman’s allure is that the ducks aren’t in a row. Speaking of which, an aquatic component would be interesting

Already happened.

Haha that’s awesome - Strongman might be a crazy box of frogs but it sure is entertaining and creative!

Well it was at least, haha. That was during probably the best era of the sport.

Had to go back to 2006 to find that one though !!

It ain’t rocket science!

That’s because that’s when strongman was still good, haha.

Or, I just do OHP with rows and DB Incline with pull ups. Or DB OHP with pull ups. Or pull ups with deadlifts.

I was just sharing one of the pros of having two bars.

Yer loads of options but 2 bars and seperate pull up bar is obviously easier.
