Alex_uk: 40 years in the making

I’m starting here and tempted to ignore the other good stuff you said because of how outrageous this comment is. In the last 12 hours I’ve eaten Krispy Kreme and Yum yums and I genuinely enjoyed the Yum yums more. (Lidl yum yums for clarity!).

It’s a decent breakfast, had it again pre training (sans the whey). I actually don’t eat the whey I make a shake and drink it (cookies and cream from MP), I’ve got some unflavoured stuff I could use but use that for smoothie style stuff generally.

So true - always cautious about my kids in this regards, I don’t think they’ll ever struggle they enjoy food big time and love both healthy stuff and junk, both have big appetites (eat full size adult meals) and both are skinny - but my daughter’s already said before about being fat (she’s legit skinny not even sporty built, but is very sporty) she has some minor intolerances and I think confusing bloatedness with fat so we’re over that.

Funny she asked for Instagram recently (age 11) and I said no and tried to explain body image issues and subconscious influence, she totally didn’t get it. Had to end up explaining that I’m not there to “make her happy” but to keep her safe and make sure she grows up well and adjusted (and happiness will be a byproduct) that she kind of understood, she keeps going on about it though, joy…

All in all I’m cautious about the stuff I project and encourage, parenting it fun haha.

I can probably tell her a few stories that might convince her.

You just want me to get a Costco membership! I’m kind of on the other end of the spectrum - I go for the Hawaiian hamburger buns. They’re sweet and delicious and I’ve found some that are less calories than those “healthy” whole wheat ones. I see so much reference to Costco foods that I’m getting tempted to stop by and see what they have. We currently pay for the upgraded Sam’s membership, though. I’d probably pick one or the other.

They aren’t the only place that sells it. Target carries it too, as does HyVee (you might have those in Kansas). Walmart might have it too: been seeing it all over.

I use King’s Hawaiian for the rest of the family. Helps the Mrs grew up there.

I’m exploring their range at the minute. Coffee caramel or summer fruits are current favourites.

I’m so glad mine are 3 and 5, so we get the “easier” stuff to worry about. I’m hoping I get smarter in the next decade because I’m nowhere near ready to be addressing the body image stuff yet.

HAH! I wouldn’t call that rubbish. And I wouldn’t follow HTFU with a full lifting session - it’s there for days I DON"T lift. So good on ya mate.
And then you are doing the EMOM front squats, but with bands too… Yeah you are working harder than me, I think. Solid stuff.

The unevenness of the numbers in this workout are triggering…

Why not
5rounds
10 swings
10 goblet squats
10 rows each side
10 press ups

or

6rounds
12 swings
12 goblet squats
12 rows each side
12 press ups

or

4 rounds

4goblet squats
8 rows/side
12 swings
16 press ups

This one was a first for me, I like it. Choc mint is good but overpowered (I mix 1 scoop with 1 of unflavoured), salted caramel a let down. I always buy 5kg at a time so when I get a bad flavour it’s a long time with me.

Coffee caramel sounds good, I’m not a fan of fruit flavours in shake, remind me of Milka (the 90s milk flavouring which made me feel nauseous).

It’ll come way sooner than that, I had my daughter asking for a phone from year 3 because other kids in her class had one… Good job I’m ok with being the bad guy

Haha blame @jdm135 - but I might change it to get some 9s or 13s in there just for you!

They were back squats, just speed work hence the weight, front squats are just too blooming nasty for my liking!

I buy 1kg of each at a time, but the only real letdown for me so far has been the chocolate ones. All the others have been pretty awesome.

Coffee caramel is by far my favourite so far, I mix some actual coffee in there as well for all the fun of the fair.

I hit up 2 scoops (60g) every shake, I’d be empty in about a week with the 1kg bags!

I buy 3 different flavours at a time. I use 4 scoops a day most days, so I usually have at least 2 1kg bags and a 5kg of chocolate brownie on the go.

Confession:

Millionaire shortbread slice, it was gluten free so in fairness it’s basically like eating an apple.

Will keep these confessions up so that my brother’s in iron can call me out for being weak willed.
