Block pull - 3.75 inch elevation
60, 100, 120kg X 5, 140, 160, 180kg X 2, 200kg X 8

Not sure if this was legit max, but back is fatigued from slabbing yesterday I debated not even pulling today but want to try and keep everything inside the week schedule. That’s either a drop of 2 because of the lower start position or fatigue - next week will soon tell! 3 weeks till floor time!

Ohp: 40, 45, 50, 57.5kg X 3, 65kg X 7

Felt ok.

Poundstone curls - all of them. Got to 72 without pausing. System of a Down - radio/video is a fantastic song for this the solo in the middle works so well about the 40 rep mark to push through got me to the 72.

That’s all folks - now off to watch Ireland smash Wales in the 6 Nations (hopefully) need someone else to cheer on after England’s dire performance yesterday.

Ugh, getting the tetanus shot makes my arm hurt for, like, 4 days…

Congrats on the Poundstone’s. Just an awesome protocol.

What’s slabbing?

I think it is something two naked men do together. Not sure why it would cause back fatigue, Alex can fill us in.

Haha thanks dude, Ireland disappointed me too, but at least they turned up and played. Scotland smashed it yesterday though.

Thanks, I might take your 1 rep progression up soon!

Laying paving slabs (natural stone some massive ones in there 3ft X 2ft slabs awkward things to lay with plenty mixing cement, a day if real labour instead of my normal desk jockeying).

That’s where you went wrong!

Was that some decorative thing or do you folks not like pouring concrete at the site?

“I’m tired, been laying paving stones all day”.
“I’m tired, been slabbing all day”.
You saved two words, probably because you are so tired! Would a typical Brit understand these two statements equally though? Because I thought Cyrrex had nailed it…

Manual labours been getting people big and strong long before racks and barbells were a thing. Who doesn’t love a days solid physical labour sometimes?

Probably TDap or DTap

I just wanna say, as an American, I knew what slabbing meant when I read it.

Decorative, in my garden, was already concreted.

Haha genuinely didn’t do it for that reason, it’s something everyone around me would understand (not entirely sure everyone in the UK but at least my local area) didn’t even cross my mind that it wouldn’t convey what I meant.

Yea I quite enjoy it, quite satisfying seeing the results (unless you screw it up then it sucks and you ache).

Glad to see that!

Love a good autocorrect!

I always wondered whether there’s an argument to be made for the addition of hard, old-school manual labour into a training program. Requires a completely different type of strength to working with a barbell… in my own opinion, even strongman can’t fully replicate it. Of course I’m far too much of a wuss for that kind of thing.

Today:

Deload squats: 60, 80, 100, 120, 140kg X 3

Right hip is angry as is my knee (probably a product of sumo pulling) and since my time is super limited right now, Monday/Tuesday were out thought I’d lump in Monday & be Wednesday’s session, but deload the squat.

Bench: 60, 80, 90kg X 5, 100kg X 3, 110kg X 7
Happy with that, wanted a bit more but the bar path was all over the place, think the extra Tri work is helping my bench. Felt strong from the moment I unracked it, might have had 8/9 if bar path had been consistent.

Was going to do some assistance work but life had other plans so that was it. Hope my hip/knee is easier by pulling day.

In other news without trying my weight is increasing apparently sitting more than ever, eating even more junk food and doing zero cardio and minimal lifting is the key… To getting fatter. Sitting at 210 consistently, but snapped a quad shot - they stay relatively lean despite what my lower belly does.
