For what it’s worth, it doesn’t look like that from my end. But there are an awful lot of vertical lines on the screen now.

It’s december already… damn.

Deadlift, 5x5x225 going E2MOM, which isn’t anything crazy but good movement. Couple singles at 315 after that.

Then the usual dicking around, shoulders, biceps, rows…

Squat: 225x5x5
Then a bunch of pullup-related stuff, and some strict pressing in the 10 rep range.
No shoulder pain.

Squats felt WAY too heavy. This is so weird - 185 is my B**h to the point that I can do 100 reps in a session, or 80 reps in 20 minutes (like last monday); yet 225 feels like “dead weight” on my shoulders - you probably know what I mean.
I’m thinking after spending all that time at 185, I’m just going to hang out with 225 for a while and see if eventually I can make it feel lighter.

Sounds like 100 reps of 225 in a session is on the cards!

Add to the above: i feel like I’ve been down this exact road before.
I just hope its 3 steps forward 2 steps back and not 3-3=0.

If you’re meaning shoulder recovery, one thing comes to mind, squat grip can impact it but there is a really good little tip that makes the world of difference - Google “talon grip squat” there’s an article on a competitors website written by Ben Pollock, it’s a really minor thing but makes a difference. I made the switch to that grip years ago and haven’t ever felt the need to switch back.

Awesome. Found the article, will try!

Tempus semper fugit. I can’t believe it’s almost Christmas.
Scap pullups, leg raises, pullups, TRX rows, basically spent a lot of time hanging from a bar and moving my scapulae against gravity. Wish I’d started this years ago. Not something really measurable or motivating, but clearly necessary. I’m so much more aware of my posture now and how it’s all related, with shoulder health etc.

Squats: 225lb, 2 EMOM for 10 minutes. (20 reps total). That was fine, but I’m clearly not ready for 50 minutes of that (for 100 reps) yet. However, just going to keep hitting 225 and pushing when and where I can until I can own it. Shouldn’t take too long.

Biceps and triceps.

PS: I need to wake my glutes up. This has always been an issue but I’m so aware lately of how I just don’t ever feel any tension in glutes. This is probably the 10th time I’ve said so in my log lol.

@alex_uk I tried the talon grip and liked it. With my hands that narrow it felt like my back was grabbing the bar! Used it for about half the sets of the EMOM.

Glad to hear it worked out well for you, I don’t consciously bring my grip in with it, but I can definitely see the advantage of doing that.

I reckon you’ve got the 2 emom 50 min session in you before the years out!

Thats the kind of kick in the pants i need. Ill shoot for it. Thinking to do longer and longer Emom sessions… or possibly try 4 reps going E2MOM and see if that is more doable. Either way, 100 reps of 225 in any scheme is going to be flat out!

Haha might have been part of the reason for my comment, the other being I genuinely think you’ve got that in you!

Squat 225, 40 reps, going 2 reps EMOM for 20 minutes.
Press: A few sets up to 105lb. No shoulder pain!!!
Work stuff came up and had to leave as soon as the important work was done.
(Did also plenty of hanging from bar and scap pullups of course)

Half way there, indeed.
As usual during EMOMs, I hit a groove after a few rounds. So rounds 6-12 are easier than 1-6. However, while I could have kept going longer, I don’t know how much longer. I felt like I barely had a chance to catch my breath on this.

Squat:
225 for 64 reps. 2 EMOM for 30 minutes, and on the last round I did 6 reps for the hell of it.
It’s crazy what EMOMs do - the weight gets so much lighter after a few rounds.
I definitely have 100 reps in me, @alex_uk and will likely shoot for next Monday. Let’s see how sore I am from this session.

This was definitely a volume PR at 225 as well.

After that: Couple sets of strict press and a little cable stuff.

Mostly BB stuff. Felt good.
Focused on those postural muscles. But did a little of everything upper body and got a great pump.

Squat: 100 reps of 225lb. 40 minutes plus a few seconds.
I did this as 2 EMOM for 10, 3 EMOM for 10, then repeat - 40 minutes of EMOM and 100 reps total.
Drenched in sweat, definitely going to feel this one, and learned a LOT doing it.
And @alex_uk I got it before year’s end - the fear of doing it was a bigger obstacle than the doing. Thanks for the kick in the pants.
