Affleck Looking 'Jacked'

Ok, I KNOW that mainstream media’s perception of people’s physiques is nowhere close to what those who truly dedicate a part of their lives to the gym is, but c’mon. I keep hearing about how Huge Ben’s looking, how his arms are 17", how he’s living in the gym,… these pics to me looks like a normal dude who’s actually a little soft in the middle.

Even with the aging Batman in the script, I can’t help but think that he’d look a bit better than this, especially if the character’s story has him still active in his crime fighting in some manner.

S

He looks worse than Michael Keaton, at least he didn’t have a beer belly.

PS

Hugh Jackman puts him completely to shame, especially considering he is 4 years older.

“Batman always had that large, intimidating figure that was muscular but also, as you said, hulking. His size was never from just muscle but from muscular mass - large… To take on all those tough criminals he needs not just the muscle but that massive, well-supported size to go along with it.”

Ok, how do I train my muscular mass?

BRB, starring in the new Incredible Hulk movie

Well, in that storyline, I remember him being a pretty big dude.

TBF, though, there are smaller renditions of him

I love batman, I grew up watching the animated series.

Let’s put numbers to his physique.

I say he should be 6’-2" // 225 and 9% bf with a slight bias towards the upper body. I agree he should be big, but also athletic and able to make acrobatic moves.

I don’t think he should be as big as Arnold in his prime, batman should be just a little more slender.

does he even lift?

He’s drawn much larger and leaner than that though. I’d say I’m about 9% in my avi pic at 5’-9" and 215-218 (don’t remember); Batman is 5" taller and substantially larger at about the same bf%…so he should be going at least 240-245.

Since A) he’s back and B) I was just checking out his vids on youtube, he should basically be the same size as Alpha +2" height, so 240-245 sounds right.

I’ve been the hugest Batman fan for as long as I can remember, and I think I’m pretty realistic and generally forgiving about the character. I fully understand the different writers and artists’ takes over the years. Of course I also am pretty grounded in real life, and how you have to adapt fictional characters and elements for more convincing avenues.

If indeed they’re going for the DKR incarnation, while an aged Batman will no way be running around with impressive bodyfat levels, he should possess enough bulk (relatively to a real life individual, not some comic book drawing) to look like he has fought the good fight the majority of his life, and has indeed handed out (and can still hand out) some serious ass kickings.

No no no. That may be for most Batman renditions, but if they’re going for the aged, Frank Miller interpretation of Batman, well, he was a fucking tank in that.

Exactly! DKR is one of the few comic series I have actually read to completion. I really loved the grizzled old Batman who wasn’t as lean or athletic and had a lifetime of injuries accumulated, but you’ve always got your strength.

TBF, it’s not like christian bale was huge either…

For Batman Begins (you can decide if the following is true or not for DK/DKR yourself) Bale looked he had the muscle mass to actually smash some skulls and most definitely put the work in for it.

You are right in that he was not huge, but he did look strong and he wasn’t so bloated/cumbersome that he would struggle to even do kettlebell lunges, nevermind fight crime.

Bale slimmed over the years, I’m certain it’s because the on screen character was relying more on speed and reliance on his technology (armor) to give him the edge. If you’ve ever seen aging athletes, unless they completely remove themselves from their training (Batman most certainly would never do this, especially if he’s still doing his thing), they maintain the look of a former athlete. Sometimes they maintain some very impressive builds with relatively little effort when compared to what they did for years and years.

My point being that even not at his physical prime, Batman (Bruce Wayne) should still walk into a room in a t-shirt (a well fitting one, not the douche-bag size too small BS), and people would think “Damn, that grand-dad’s pretty jacked”.

Which is why I thought Mickey Rourke would have been perfect for that rendition of batman.

Oh well, the animated 2 part movie was pretty good at least.

I’m still hopeful the new movie with Affleck will be good.

For Batman Begins, I think he was to small. He was just beginning his path and coming off years of training to get ready for it. He should have been larger and leaner.

After years of doing his thing I can understand him losing some mass to get to that level, because he would not have the time to stay in the gym to keep his mass that he had acquired.

What he would have lost in size, he would make up for with experience and gadgets that he realized he would need.

Thank you!

He is also playing batman in the new Justice League moving coming out soon, isn’t he?

Batman’s depiction varies greatly. Sometimes he is portrayed as massive, others he even describes himself as a “lean 210 lbs.” Regardless of his physical shortcomings, Affleck was a shitty choice.

There should be no room for softness and nothhing but bad ass bigness.

Batman no doubt has access to, or the resources to obtain “Bat-T”, “Bat-drol”, “Bat-bol” and “Bat-tren”
