Advice to Young Men from an Old Man

  1. Don?t take proffered advice without a critical analysis. 90% of all advice is intended to benefit the proponent, not the recipient. Actually, the number is probably closer to 97%, but I don?t want to come off as cynical.

  2. Remember, 97% of all advice is worthless. Take what you can use, and trash the rest.

Ironically, assuming these two points are worthy, they cover 6.7% of the proffered advice above…

and if you count “Keep fit,” you’ve now got 10%…

Since I’m a proud former US Navy Submariner and a conservative republican allow me to point out that point number 30 is very applicable to points 5 and 7 and then let me refer you to point 14.

I liked this alot and yes it was bitter ,but i find myself agreeing with alot of it.

I wish I knew where that guy got the statistics about men getting raped more then women, that would be a great statistic to have for some of my term papers for my criminal justice classes.

Barney - 48.2% of all statistics are made up on the spot.

As I got stronger it from bench to press to curl, hahahahaha.

Can’t believe you guys missed this:

Perhaps it was not the girls who were cheated in this case?

To the OP, nice list; as a young buck I always appreciate lessons learned from my elders. To all the critics: relax.

  1. As a former Marine, take it from me. Don?t join the military, unless you want to risk getting your balls blown off to secure other people?s economic or political interests.

I couldn’t have said it better myself. It is funny how many people think they are dying for their country. When really it is just to make a very select few people a large amount of money.

Smedley Butler, one of the most high profile Marines in history, said the same thing: “War is a Racket”

(I’ve posted this before, and I’ll post it again as long as it’s relevant)

Come on, that’s been played out. 99% of all military folks get out/retire without even getting close to combat. Now, throw in unequalled leadership training, 100% tuition assistance (go to college for free while on active duty), G.I. Bill (free money for college after service),

FREE medical and dental and housing for you and your family, job skills, steady paycheck every two weeks, yearly pay increases, responsibility early on, 30 days paid leave every year, retire after only 20 years with 50% base pay for the rest of your life…and so on, the military isn’t such a bad deal.

Best Rule Ever: Your life belongs to you and the ‘GOOD’ is to live it.

(2) Your money belongs to you, not to a welfare suck or a Congressman who has convinced idiots and dolts into voting for him/her.

(3) Giving any government the power to plunder one group for the benefit of any other group is pure evil (witness Katrina).

(4) You have the right to be left alone and you have the obligation to leave others alone.

No one who tells me not to be in the military has any business teaching me anything.

And The Smed was a tool (of the leftists)…This was back in the days before said ideology was proven as bankrupt, when Joe Stalin was put forth as a “humanitarian” and his genocidal actions covered up,(no different than his future one balled paperhangin’ Buddy he split Poland with)…I doubt Smed would have approved had he known what WW2 would leave us with…Your argument is sound, but out of context, is not logical…
