Advice to Young Men from an Old Man

Dude, explain rule 6. There are too many big words for me to understand.

Seriously.

Example:

If eliminating Welfare leads to a direct decrease in taxes for those in higher income brackets and has the “theoretical” value of “possibly” decreasing the reliance of the poor on the government and suddenly becoming self sufficient, the goal is truly to benefit the rich, not the poor.
LOL. Here’s another: If someone seeking a position of power keeps telling you to support him so that he can “serve,” you, he’s full of shit: He only cares about power for himself. See, e.g., every member of Congress.

Word, like they care about us. What is it 3 terms and you have a life time pension and health benfits, WTF!!! What other job offers that in the private sector.

Then when they leave they get a job as a lobbyist while they collect said pension and benefits. And that applies equally to Republicans and Democrats.

They both love the cash and perks. You just have to decide who will benefit you and the country the most by accident, hahaha.

He sounds bitter.

Don’t take advice from a bitter man.

Irony?

I may be old but I am not bitter. You can take my advice. It is free and worth every penny.

Sorry OP, you are no T.C. Luoma…

Zap, PGJ, & TOM63: Thanks for clearing up that mess for the young bucks, it was necessary…

I will add: Anyone who seeks to destroy your 2nd Amendment rights is not your friend…

I wish I knew where that guy got the statistics about men getting raped more then women, that would be a great statistic to have for some of my term papers for my criminal justice classes.

I think it’s just a lot of good things that no one says out loud.

Some points are bitter… but everyone has a little of that in them

Absolutely but bitterness does not make good advice. It makes great comedy.
17. Don?t speak ill of your wife/girlfriend. Back her up against the world, even if she?s wrong. She should know that you have her back. When she needs your help, give it. She should know that you?ll take her part.

 1. Don?t cheat on your wife/girlfriend. If you must cheat, don?t humiliate her. Don?t risk having your transgressions come back to her or her friends. Don?t do it where you live. Don?t do it with people in your social circle. Don?t shit in your own back yard.
These two rules are contradictory…as well as others. If the guy can’t get continuity with how personal relationships should go, he doesnt have any wisdom.

True.

Plus, I don’t think anyone has to learn to be bitter from a guy on the internet… that comes naturally with life.

Reinforcing it is not a great thing, I agree.

 1. Don’t be pedantic.

Ahh. I agree with your last comment, but I noticed that you are from California. Isn;t that the state where jack-booted legislators have slipped into the inky night to steal away rights to almost all firearms that have any usefulness? They limit hi cap magazines, and military grade rifles and what not?

I could be wrong though, a frequent occurace with me.

This one was so random it made me laugh. Good though.

I do wonder - if by miracle all politicians in the world drop dead tomorrow, will that bring the dawn of the Golden Age, heaven on earth?
I tend to answer in the affirmative, but perhaps I’m biased.

You are correct, in fact, the state capitol is infected with evil scum who live only to harass gun owners, and yes, even Arnold (who should know better)signed a ban on a firearm never documented to have been used in a crime: The.50 BMG…

Remember that in any war there are partisans forced to fight behind enemy lines…Such are the good firearms owning citizens of California, continuing to resist against the tyranny of lawbreaking “lawmakers”, meddling “do-gooding” fools who bring only disgrace to a once great state…

This is not my list. I didn’t create it nor agree with all points.

I found it on the interweb via craiglist (through digg).

I feel its always good to listen to old people’s advice. You might have to sift through some of it to find nuggets of gold.

I recommend reading “Wisdom of Our Fathers: Timeless Life Lessons on Health, Wealth, God, Golf, Fear, Fishing, Sex, Serenity, Laughter, and Hope”

I’m gonna add 1 here for your consideration.

Try and be honest and “right” in your dealings with people and yourself. You’ll sleep better at night and won’t have to remember what lies you told various people. It eases the mind.

Kind of goes along with speaking your mind and being true to yourself.

Here’s the thing about listening to advice from old timers…consider the source. If the man is someone you admire and you’d like to be the type of man he is well his advice is probably going to benefit you. Is he happy?

If he’s a cranky old bastard who thinks that life dealt him an unfair hand then the advice he gives will be soured with resentment…a bad attitude for a young man looking for guidance.

Cranky bitter guys do make great comedy though.

good stuff. kudos.

Never sleep with a woman that weighs more than you can bench press.

Barney - 48.2% of all statistics are made up on the spot.
