Advice on needling

Hi. Very new to this. Would appreciate guidance.

I bought some ‘orange’ injection syringes (25G). They were the smallest needle head that had 1ml capacity I could source. I did a test puncture (empty) in to some tummy fat. Discomfort was tolerable. Some minor bleeding. However in the days after I developed large amount of bruising around the surrounding area which was concerning. Whenever I get a flu jab as example, I don’t get such skin bruising. Was this a choice of injection site issue? Is my needle too big? Did I do something wrong?

Please and thank you in advance for help

Differing opinions out there. Test was made for intramuscular, not sub q and I prefer it that way. Pin your glutes or delts depending on volume or liquid.

For subQ yea likely. Try 27ga slin pins for sub Q. For IM 25ga 1” is fine.

You may have just hit a capillary or something that caused bleeding. It happens but is nothing to worry about. I assume you didn’t inject air or anything right!

Most of my bad injections were subq. Since going IM, I’ve had very few jabs that welted, even at high capacity.

Couldn’t tell you why subq stings or reacts worse, it just does for some people.

Be careful if you inject your quads. I put a needle into a nerve and I’ve had a numb spot for three months. It was so bad, I got checked for a blood clot. Glutes have been no issue. Haven’t tried my delt yet. One trick if you hate the needle is to cough at the same time you stick yourself. You won’t even feel it. I use a 27 ga 1 1/2in needle.

I’ll second this advice. Only “bad” IM shot I’ve done was quads. The stuff i was using was VERY pippy but it still felt like i got kicked by a horse. I’ve been too nervous to try it since.
