Sorry I missed this at the time - how’s it going?
I went to the PT, he said I have Patellofemoral pain syndrome because of muscle imbalance. He just pressed on my kneecap and it certainly gave me discomfort. I looked on youtube and found a few exercises that work the side of the glute and the VMO, which now I’m doing before my leg workouts.
Before the PT I did twice a day some isometric exercises, but I didn’t feel it helped much.
I’ve noticed some knee cave from my right knee (where the pain was) on my squats and deadlifts so I understood that my inner thighs are not strong as they should be, so I started to focus much more on keeping my knees out.
I’ve also bought a knee wrap with a silicon ring, and it helps some. I do still feel some discomfort without it if my technique is not on point. Maybe my mind is playing tricks and this discomfort is actually muscle activation, I’m not sure.
I continued training regularly, after taking a one week deload. I can squat normally and have no pain, but knee cave aggravates the symptoms. Even when I sit down and if I don’t think on pushing my right knee out, I can feel some discomfort. Not pain.
I play basketball, and it also aggravates the symptoms a bit.
So I’m working on it. Training regularly though.
