Has anyone had any success with acupuncture to revive their libido? I’m thinking about trying this route as my libido has been in the tank for years now. Hormonally, I’m within normal t-levels.
Where would they insert the needles - this sounds potentially scary.
But seriously, have you been tested for other hormones such as E2, SHBG, or DHT? Are you on other medications such as antidepressants or blood pressure meds? How “normal” are your T levels?
what does your doctor consider “normal”?
I have no idea on acupuncture, but I had a huge improvement once I started taking 3 teaspoons of sea salt a day, so basically anything is possible.
Acupuncture is not the answer I’m afraid. The evidence for acupuncture for the treatment of ANY condition is completely non existent when held to well designed trials. It is no better than placebo. In fact, there is simply no plausibility to it’s proposed mechanism of action (freeing of chi). It is not without risk so this isn’t a case of “well it can’t hurt to try” even ignoring the financial aspect.

+1…you may as well just throw some salt over your right shoulder while standing on one foot…at least then you wouldn’t have some stranger sticking needles all over you

I worry when you say things like that. Others may be stupid enough to try it.
good point.
I should have pointed out that I have a blood test that shows my Aldosterone at 2 ng/dL (which is extremely low). Aldosterone regulates sodium/potasium retention. Low Aldosterone can mean that your body is losing too much sodium out of your kidneys. Your sodium blood levels can still show normal as your body can steal sodium from cells and intracellular space, but you will still have problems with electrolyte balance, etc.
One of the ways to test if you have low Aldosterone or to confirm that you have a problem is to take 1/4 or 1/2 a teaspoon of sea salt (specifically sea salt) multiple times a day, and see if you have any improvements to your symptoms.
For me, the sea salt has resulted in an instant mood boost, less ankle swelling, significantly less knee pain, and significantly less sweating - before I would exude massive amounts sweat when it was mildly warm out, during sex (which is not a turn on for my wife), and during workouts - plus my sweat was always pure water with no salt content.
I can tell if I need the salt because I start to develop headaches if I go too long between doses, I start sweating more, and the taste - if I gag on the salt, then I don’t need it, but if it tastes good, my body needs it.
There is a medication to treat low Aldosterone, but I am trying to limit my medications/supplements not increase them at this point.
How can you tell if your sweat has no salt content?
Taste?
Smell?
I sweat pretty easily, sometimes I stink afterwards, sometimes not. I’ve often wondered but never looked/found any signifigance, cause, correlation to anything.
Just curious.
two things - the first was whenever sweat was pouring down my face, I could tell by the taste, and second, the manner in which the sweat beaded up on my forehead and skin, it did not seem to act like normal sweat which I now attribute to it having less salt content. It’s just a theory at this point. I need a urine test to see how much sodium I am excreting and how much I am holding onto.
stink (at times) is possibly caused by extra toxins being released due to internal cellular changes from hormonal or adrenal swings. I.E. - you fix something (start testosterone, etc.) and your body reacts by dumping toxins that it couldn’t clear out before because you were operating at 50% capacity.
I tried this 8mths ago…didn’t do a damn thing.
