Normally I do swings two-handed, but tonight I decided to follow my friend @furo and take a crack with one hand. Boy, that changes the lift!

If you’re looking for a daily approach to lifting, I’ve tried Power to the People. I got incrementally stronger while getting no sleep and not eating nearly enough, so I wasn’t disappointed. If I had my recovery and nutrition dialed in, I would have gotten stronger than I did. Do kettlebell work on your off days if you want. But, I defer to the advice of ActivitiesGuy, because he has a deadlift that’s 200 pounds stronger than mine, haha. As I’m sure anybody on the forums can attest to, the most important thing in lifting is to work smart and stay consistent. Good luck.

Fairly unremarkable but for one thing - I decided to go strapless tonight and do all heavy reps mixed grip. Been awhile since I went this heavy on a regular barbell without straps. At some point I may consider trying 600 mixed grip just to say that I could hit it “competition legal” (thus far I’ve used straps for nearly all lifts over 500).

I was in Washington, DC for a work meeting this morning so I decided to drop by NEVERSate Athletics (@Alpha’s gym) for a workout on the drive home. I have to be honest - I couldn’t even keep up, what you see above is my best effort to hang with the prescribed workout (I did complete all the squat reps that were asked…just needed to break into smaller increments than planned). These people are in ridiculous shape and have insane work ethic and atmosphere. I’m really glad that I stopped in & would have loved to hang around, but I have a long drive home tonight!
That’s rad! I was in Frederick, MD for a wedding in July and was hoping to slip away for a session there but the schedule was way too tight to make it happen. Drive safe dude.
It was pretty awesome. Being 100% honest, I somewhat prefer the quiet solitude of a home gym - just my personality - but that got me outside my comfort zone and showed that I need to work conditioning more for sure. That’s going to be tough given current life circumstances but at the very least I can get more kettlebell swings and sandbag work into my routine.
It was also kind of surreal to walk into the gym and suddenly…there’s Brian Alsruhe!
Also: everything that Brian says about the gym on the channel is 100 percent legit. The people are friendly, positive, and uplifting. On seeing a stranger in the gym at least half a dozen people said hello, asked who I was & where I was from, and chatted pleasantly. It’s clearly a special group of people & a special place.

DOMS was worse today. Yowza. I can barely walk up and down the stairs, and sitting in a chair is an adventure. I did more volume in an hour at NEVERSate than I normally do in a week!
Look on the bright side! At least you don’t have to cut the grass.
Lol, seriously. I’ve got a good sized pond accumulating in the front yard right now!

I really like having the fifth set of bumper 45’s. Really easy to load up to 495 and it just looks cool with the five big wheels on each side for a working weight. I’m practically Hafthor now, right? Almost there…
