That looked almost gentle. Like complete control, no strain.

Impressive.

Thanks @SkyzykS! Deadlifting with the axle is interesting - without straps, grip is the limiting factor, so I am handing weight that’s relatively easy on my back and leg and it’s always going to look like the weight goes up pretty easily until my grip gets better.

I’ve watched @T3hPwnisher and @Alpha’s work on the axle. I’ve seen Alpha do 640 on the axle with no straps (with a barbell PR of 725, I think) so it’s definitely possible to get your axle dead up to 80-90 percent of your barbell PR, and that’s what I’ll be chasing for a little while. I did 545 on the axle WITH straps a couple days ago; this time next year I would love to be pulling 545 on the axle without straps. We’ll see how it goes!

This also, I imagine, will have some great carryover to my barbell deadlift. I will likely do more axle work than barbell work for a few months, then perhaps retest my true barbell max and see where things stand.

I will say I noticed my pull off the floor got slower after consistent axle work, but it also got much smoother. Seems like the tradeoff.

Curious to see what it felt like to pull on a barbell after a couple axle workouts. Not bad. I really shouldn’t just keep deadlifting every day, but I just like it so much. Cross my heart and hope to die, I will change it up tomorrow and do some sandbag work.

Ok, ok. TOMORROW I will do something besides a deadlift. But by the time we got back from our evening walk, I just wanted to get something quick and heavy before dinner.

You must be setting that thing down pretty gently huh? All that talk about switching it up for the little one

Ok. One more day I guess. Just kind of on autopilot right now with the newborn, nice to do workouts that require no thought.
