Tonight’s beer: Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale. I’m a big fan of this. A little creamy, not quite as heavy as some of my main stouts. Highly recommend for anyone that likes barrel aged beer.
Their beer IS very good. Have you had their cream ale? I just drank one last week, and I’m fully impressed. It’s a golden beer with vanilla and corn pieces added, presumably for sugar, yet aged in a bourbon barrel. If you’re wanting a flavorful, lighter-colored beer, the sweetness and bourbon edge counterbalance each other very well.

Tore a callus on my left hand near the end of this. It’s pretty gnarly.
Tonight’s beer was a Troegs LaGrave Golden Ale. Really nice pleasant beer.

Really the only thing that I could do comfortably until my torn callus heals a bit more.
@ActivitiesGuy Have you ever thought of putting a full body movement into your rotation? Something like a clean and press or muscle snatch?

Hustled through this so I could make my 5:30 conference call. But I’m of the Dan John mentality - on some days, working up to one heavy double is really all you need.
Callus is healing, should be fine to pull or lift sandbags or something in a few days.

Went double overhand up to 295. I’ll try to gradually work on this, as my grip is weak & I’d like to do something about that with the axle and farmer’s walks. I also intend to try to add 5 pounds per week to my max axle (no straps - yet) from now until I hit 500 with a mixed-grip, no straps. This will be a good changeup for me as I LOVE barbell deadlifts but could use something that keeps me from just trying to pull a 90-95 percent barbell single every week.

Tonight’s beer was a “Cococino” Porter from Hitchiker Brewing. A little too bitter and coffee-flavored for my taste.

Pulled heavier with straps, even though I intend to track my PR on the axle without them, just because I wanted to feel a little heavier weight. I am really loving the axle.
Tonight’s beer is a Kutztown Lager. This is a delightfully simple but solid lager beer.

Tonight’s beer: Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale. Love this. It’s like a cream soda…but a beer instead.
Sounds delicious
I might have to get a six of that for the wife. She likes cream soda, so I got her a hard cream soda for New Years. She was so-so about it. Liked the idea but not the execution.
That beer’s flavor is so good, it caught me off guard.
I’ve had other cream ales that were disappointing. Not so the Kentucky Vanilla Barrel Cream Ale. It’s everything a cream ale should be.
