In love with your numbers, ha. What weights do you feel you can own any day? Good or bad, the ones you can just hit rain or shine.

Well, to be honest, this has been changing rather rapidly over the past 4-6 months, since I reintroduced barbell squatting (and then started squatting more often than I was deadlifting…if you look back at my log in 2016, I was deadlifting far more than anything else).

Today? I’d say a 365 squat and 500 deadlift are my “anytime, anywhere” numbers right now, but I think that might be 405/545 after completing this 6-week squat cycle.

A little context here. The CrossFit gym has a leaderboard. I’ve had the biggest deadlift since the first day I pulled heavy at the gym, but one guy had a 405 squat (with a whole slew of guys sitting between 335 and 375) and it’s been gnawing at me, so today I felt pretty good and decided it was time to fix that.

Awesome work man!

Disappointed that you didn’t drop it. What are bumpers for if not that?

Nice lift though.

Boo-ya!

Very pleased with this. The two singles at 535 felt strong - tough, but never a doubt they were going to make it to lockout. Progress continues apace.

Also, T-Friends, say a little prayer for me and Mrs. AG…we checked out houses today and are going to make an offer this weekend on a modest 3-bedroom, 2-bath split level that has one of the critical elements that I was looking for…a massively deep two-car garage that has enough space to pull both cars in and still easily accommodate about a 10-by-10-foot square space for squatting and deadlifting. My shopping cart on the Rogue Fitness website is already loaded with the beginnings of my dream home-gym setup: Monster Lite squat stands, Rogue Ohio Bar, 400 pounds of American-made Hi-Temp bumper plates, and a pair of Metal HG collars; plenty to get things started!

Trying not to get too attached in case someone else outbids us for the house…but for the first time I can really taste my American dream of a barbell, plates, and squat stand to call my own.

Terrific news: our offer on the house was accepted, so pending all the usual hurdles (mortgage approval, inspection, etc) we are now on the road to becoming homeowners, and home-gym-owners!

Congrats on the home! Hopefully it’ll all go through. Nothing beats a home gym!

Question for you man. Since you are doing doubles, singles, triples everyday, do you feel as if certain weights just don’t feel “heavy” anymore because the volume is low, but the intensity is high? Like for example does 315 even feel heavy at all to you? Seems like you could do it walking into a gym cold with no warming up.

Again, it’s hard to tell exactly how to feel about this because my strength continues to increase. 315 is certainly much easier than it was two months ago, but that’s because two months ago my 1RM was about 365, whereas today it’s 410 and probably still climbing. So, I suppose, I’ll make the blindingly obvious statement that certain weights no longer feel “heavy” when you are strong enough that they are no longer heavy, ya know?

I wouldn’t want to walk in and do 315 without working up to it, though. 315 is still heavy.
