Congrats. I am playing catch up already.
Just kinda where it falls naturally, I guess. The belt is one that my dad bought me when I was younger (same goes for the Oly-lifting shoes that I wear for squats). Sometime last year, I read an article that suggested wearing the belt a little higher than most people do, so I tried wearing it higher (for deadlifts, at the time, I still hadn’t started squatting again) and liked it. This year, when I added squats to my formerly deadlifts-only routine, I kept that placement, and still like how it feels. I’ve never really tried wearing it lower because it’s so comfortable and gives me a real feeling of blasting my core against the belt.
Thanks guys. It was kinda funny to me, on watching the video, seeing that I had decent speed off the floor but nearly came to a dead stop just above the knees (I’ve never failed to lock out a DL that made it to the knees before - in the last couple years, I’ve only failed one or two deadlift attempts, and they happened 2" off the floor). I do remember the decent-speed-turns-into-slow-grind sensation and thinking (if one can think that quickly) that I was going to be really goddamn angry that I got that close and failed at lockout, so I think there was something of a “dig deep & make the damn lift!!” feeling that happened in the six seconds between when I started pulling and when I made it to lockout.

Short and sweet today.
Question for you man. Have you noticed anything when going from Hot Yoga right into your lifting? How do the squats feel? I figure after 90 min of yoga your body would be extremely primed and ready squat!
Good question. I’ve only done this a few times (usually because my wife was teaching the 9:30 and 11:30AM Saturday yoga classes; I’ll practice the 9:30 class, come home, have a quick snack, then go squat at noon) but I felt pretty good each time that I’ve done it. As long as I’m hydrated and fueled properly, it feels pretty good.

Last day of a four-day vacation with some friends from college. Kept it simple by just going for a half-hour run every morning. Back to the regular schedule (work and lifting) this week.
Yeah - I think it is just the CNS fatigue that hits you too. Nice work though.

Do you find running beats you up at all? Or are you pretty resilient with it?
Saturday 5/20
Bikram Yoga (90 Minutes)
Furo - re: running, the amount I’ve been doing lately is just fine. I think I can handle 10-15 miles per week with no problem. A few years ago, I was running 40-60 miles per week in training for 10K and half marathon races, and that did result in lots of nagging injuries and whatnot. But 2-3 days per week of 3-4 miles each is just fine.
