Just wondering, are you still in Pittsburgh?

Yes, I am! Though as I get older, with more family/parental responsibilities, I spend less time “in the city” than I once did.

I am a faculty member at Pitt. I did my undergrad at CMU (2008) then Master’s and PhD work at Pitt, and have been on faculty at Pitt ever since. For all of graduate school and my first couple of years on faculty, I lived in the Oakland/Shadyside area, but a few years ago my wife & I bought a house in Upper Saint Clair, a gorgeous suburb about 10 miles south of downtown. I still come to town for work every day, but rarely am in the city past 4-5PM unless there’s been some prior planning.

PRO: beautiful neighborhood, got a nice house for our money, settled nicely into a comfortable suburban life, no more ambulances blaring past at all hours of the day.

CON: it now means that going “into the city” feels like a major event. I used to be able to get a random text from a friend “Hey, want to meet for a drink tonight in Lawrenceville?” & easily be up for it. Now it’s more like “Sorry, I’ve left for the night and will not return until the morrow…”

Did a session with my faculty workout buddy in the campus gym this morning. He was pretty happy with this; 515 is the most he’s pulled since we started working out together. I was happy too, all my pulls felt pretty good.

I LOVE Lawrenceville! I’ve written two posts on it on my blog- www.rb-Twinkie.com

I also really love the Carnegie cafe in the museum- unfortunately, I can’t afford going: :frowning:

The free museum pass for students is AMAZING!

Despite being a CMU student, I have way more free time than I know what to do with, so if you’re open, maybe we could meet somewhere near campus. Starbuck’s???

Haven’t posted a vid for awhile so here’s one just to prove that I do, in fact, still lift:

LOL! I’ve never even taken a video- I must not lift

Looked smooth man. Very strong. I notice you wear your belt pretty high up, am I doing it wrong or is this personal preference?

What did you think of the snow? Does it usually snow this early?

Sometimes, it’s not that unusual for us to get some light dusting in November. It would be rare for us to get a really heavy snow accumulation (multiple inches) this early, though - nothing that’s likely to result in school closings or class cancellations. We’ll probably get another dusting or two in the next few weeks, but I wouldn’t expect a heavy snow storm until closer to Christmas, if not later.

I’m working on it. I used to know that 585 was there any time I wanted it; once I get back to that point, where I feel like I can finish any given workout at 585, then I’ll know it’s time to test myself north of 600 once again.
