I’ve heard that Wal-Mart gets the “same” model of HDTVs as electronic stores except with features removed to match that “lower price” you’re getting. Something like the same model number except with a W at the end to designate it going to Wal-Mart (and is missing things from the non-W model).
I’m wondering if the same thing happens between Academy and Sports Authority/Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Awhile back I was in Academy and saw Nike Dri Fit regular t-shirts for about $15, on sale. Since I’ve never owned one of these sports shirts, I said what the hell and got an XL and discovered I like the wicking quite a bit. It felt a little small for an XL but was fine for working out. Last week I was in Dick’s Sporting Goods and they had the same shirts on sale, for $18. I grabbed two more XL’s… one regular and one sleevless (for running).
I wear one of them the next day and immediately can tell the difference in the overall quality and the fact that it fits like an XL. I’m 6’2" and have a problem with shirts being too short… won’t stay tucked in and/or show off my lower back or stomach if I jump or bend over. The shirts from Dick’s feel twice as nice in overall quality and fit great. Plenty of length.
I checked the tags on the backs of the shirts and the ones from Dick’s say NIKE DRI-FIT and the one from Academy says NIKE FIT DRY. Same 100% polyester stuff.
Does anyone know what’s going on with this and if this practice goes on with other products too?
