Great day climbing outside today! I couldn’t get on the hard one I’ve been working on since it’s much colder today, and that one’s in the shade. I’d say I found a nice setting for the day. And the climbing here was great too!

I woke up feeling a cold come on. I hit the gym early so I could get that done before it really hit me. I didn’t do quite a full session, but I got all my main work done, so that’s good.
On one hand, I’m not excited to be sick since it means I’ll have less activity, which isn’t ideal when trying to lose fat. On the other hand, I suppose it’s not the worst time to get sick since my calories will stay super low. We’ll see how it goes.

I woke up still sick, but in better shape than yesterday. I’ll take today off climbing for sure. It was about time for me to have a deload week for climbing anyway, and this week I’ll only be able to climb once instead of three times.

Still a bit sick today, but better than yesterday. I’m hoping I can lift tomorrow.
I’ve been pondering how I’ll handle things post-diet. Every time I do the diet, it shows me that all the food I think I “need”, I mostly don’t. I’m definitely not at 100% when I’m on this diet, but I’m surprisingly not very far from it. I do in fact need to eat more calories to maintain weight rather than lose it, and to be able to physically perform at 100%.
My breakfasts are typically a whey shake (I wish I could afford MD protein year-round but I can’t) and a cup of oats. Lately I’ve tried adding some coconut oil to my morning coffee some days as well. I’m hungry again in a few hours, sometimes less.
When I’m done with this diet, I’ll try starting the day with a shake and nuts instead. Maybe that can help me feel more full throughout the morning. Then I’ll either have the oats later, or hopefully just skip them altogether and delay lunch for longer than I currently do. If I can start my day a bit fuller, and stay off the carb roller coaster for a bit longer, I think I can sustainably eat less food than I was eating pre-diet.
We’re having steak and grilled vegetables for dinner. It’s only 1:30, I’m not hungry at all, but I’m so fucking excited for dinner!

I took a crack at lifting this morning. I was able to get most of my workout in, but couldn’t quite handle the full volume of it. I assume it’s due to remnants of the cold, and that the diet hasn’t totally fried me.
I’m at the point where I’m looking small and gangly, which I don’t like, but I know it’s just part of the process, and temporary. My muscles are just deflated at this point.
Leftover steak and grilled veggies for dinner. Let’s finish strong.

Another work/rest day. It’s a heavily deloaded week for me climbing-wise. Just one session instead of three. Next week I’ll be ready to hit it hard.

Good lifting session this morning! I’m particularly proud of trap bar deadlifting 305 for 3x6, then a set of 13 with 235. I was actually hungry today, which I haven’t been in a while. Hopefully that means a bit more progress over the last few days!
