So that is how you want PWI to be? When you disagree with someone rather than talk about it in the original thread you must make a new thread?

Sounds like a good way to ruin PWI.[/quote]

nope, just figured with all of the wasted energy whining about it, you could have started a new thread and blasted away to your hearts content. It seems symptomatic of people today to complain rather than just it up and get on with what you want to say. I even when and started a thread so you could bash away.

I have no desire to bash away. The whole “start a new thread” issue simply reminds me of free speech zones. It kills discussion.

I have seen a lot of forums go to shit because of mods deleting legitimate opinions. If people think they are being unfairly treated then they will stop posting and go elsewhere.

I don’t care about the particular incident. I simply enjoy the discussions in PWI and am stating that I believe excessive forum moderation kills discussion. Hence, the mods should refrain from deleting posts unless they have to.

i hardly think “excessive” describes the actions of the mods here . . . proof? they still let Ryan post here . . .

I had no idea this was even going on until I saw this thread. There has to be some sane guidelines, but I’d prefer it if the participants be left handle as much as possible. Whether someone takes something off topic shouldn’t be something for moderation in my opinion. As far as I knew this was already the case. This is the least modded forum I’ve been in and I’ve been in quite a few, with with maybe arstechnica.com being second.

I think Ryan is just a mod alias used for subversive purposes.

Great work guys! Very entertaining.
