Truly a modern day Hemingway. I miss him.

I have used the ‘report post’ function on occasion. It’s there for legitimate complaints, and appropriate when stuff gets posted that would bring T-Nation into disrepute. I have seen mods react to that slowly but fairly, and never overzealously. I would keep it that way.

Yeah, well I disagree again.

When someone goes off with unsubstantiated statements, name calling, or other profanity, It’s like a win by default.

They make an ass of and discredit them self better than anybody else ever could.

Let them. There have been quite a few of those over the years that eventually just fade away, create new screen names, or otherwise self destruct.

There is also the fact that at the heart of most PWI threads are values and ethics based arguments. Some of these things are too visceral to be substantiated. Links and articles may agree with how one feels, or express the same sentiment in different words, but in the end, it’s a blood and guts feeling.
Bottom line, if you can’t back up your shit, then STFU…
Have anything to substantiate that sentiment?

You betcha!

not to mention Zap.

those were the days.

You don’t understand what’s going on here.

People type what they think - and get censored.

To me, that happened in aforementioned thread of yours and at least twice before that.

One time it was about religion and yes, it wasn’t about critisizing the Mahabharata.

I just want clarity; apparently, some mods are very sensitive and don’t wish to let us debate american military culture or their idols (although it’s super-ok to praise them endlessly).

So just hand out that censorship list!
All you wrote was that those heroes were just young chumps that get payed for killing people.

I have written worse and it got through, some mods are just more sensitive than others.

Find out who they are and post when they are not around, problem solved.

I got to know him pretty good, even some away from this site. There was no indication I could discern anyway that he did any excessive drinking. I think I’m gonna drop him a line and see if I can talk him in to coming back. I doubt it though. He is every bit as mule headed as Professor X.

The double standard is obvious though.

You can post pictures of dead people that were killed by the Taliban, but not of dead people killed by American heroes.

Why is that?

If there was a rule like, no pictures of dead people, well then yes, but there are definitely quite arbitrary rulings which take into considerations who posted said pictures and in what context.

Insofar I am asking myself whether mods were hired to uphold certain rules and standards or whether they should bend a thread according to their opinions.

If they wish to do the latter they can easily get another handle and debate away, but to throw out opinions they do not like and pretending to uphold “rules” that clearly do only apply to cerftain members and opinions is ludicrous and annoying.

I had one post deleted a few years ago where I told somebody something like “if you’re gonna do that you may as well blow yer brains out now because the frustration will be more than you can take”. That one was about weight training. I don’t remember which mod it was, but they told me we can’t be encouraging people to “blow their brains out” I thought it was a bit goofy, but I shrugged it off. That was the only time for me.

Yea, me and him were mutually respectful of each other. Politics aside we got along excellent.

Now that I see Orion the Royal Fuckface here with his “You betcha” I believe the speculation in my previous thread was probably spot-on.
Dont know your speculations, but all I suggested that the thread should be moved to SAMA if it had to be moved at all.

I think it was deleted because it quoted Schwarzfahrers post.

No rules, but I do think you should be able to delete your own post.

A workaround?
No, I’d like to know which thoughts are not allowed, plain and simple.

I’ll even provide you with a checkbox!

making jokes about brown people getting tortured
describing how awesome it would be to turn whole countries into glass paved parking lots
saying it’s strange to glorify soldiers who go into needless wars
making fun of the god allah
making fun of the god “god” (you know, the american one)
posting the nth religious salvation stick up thread like: Repent Or Get Flamed - In Hell, For One Gillion Years

It was really no big deal, no cussing, no libel.
I also pointed the irony out that some people who browse TNation may actually have had their houses bombed needlessly by the glorified freedom forces.

I have a feeling I know what happened. I.S. started a thread honoring our military service people. As is the custom, some felt it appropriate to bash and dishonor those men and women. Then the mods came in and said, “Nah, that just aint right.” In that case I would agree with them. I would agree to keep the thread free of the “They’re all baby killing thugs,” tripe.

Now that doesn’t mean someone else can’t come in and start a “Baby Killers” thread.
Horrible idea.

You want the mods the have the authority and responsibility to prevent thread de-railments.

Almost every thread gets de-railed at some point. That is not the Mods responsibility.

A few of us, who have had their posts censored or deleted, would like some clarification on the forum rules, if there are any. If there are none, then why are posts being deleted/censored?
What posts were deleted, and can you give an example of the type of post that was deleted? I guess you will have to tone down the words yourself because it will be deleted again.

I would like an example. I have damned people to hell on this website, and that has never been deleted.
German guy wrote something. Got deleted. Then he wrote a post about his deleted post. Got deleted. Then I wrote “It was only a matter of time…”. Got deleted. Then dustin wrote something. Got deleted. And now this thread.

Of course I would greatly prefer that we be able to honor the protectors of what’s left of our freedom in peace. I just don’t know if I want the door cracked open on having the mods engineering who can say what in the case of non legally threatening posts.

But see, I had a post in that same thread asking the mods, who apparently had deleted some posts, for some clarification on what is kosher and what isn’t. My post was deleted and I was notified by the mod that they (he) wanted to keep the thread on topic.

Now you have been posting here for a while too and how many posts have you seen get hijacked? It happens quite a bit and there is no censorship or deletion of posts.

This is the reason why I made this initial request. I just want to know what these rules are.

I sent him an email, but like I say he is one stubborn dude. It’s no secret he and Shugart were not exactly falling into each others arms. I just realized it’s been 2 years since he left already.
