I love horror movies, and I almost always get excited when I see talk of a remake.
Friday the 13th? Couldn’t wait to see it! (Turned out to be a piece of shit, but that’s beside the point).
Halloween? FUCK YEAH! Zombie did an amazing job with it.
Then I saw the trailer for this. My reaction was…stunned silence and confusion. Think Ronnie Coleman having his plate of BBQ chicken suddenly removed and replaced with a sextant. Something along those lines…
This remake really didn’t need to be made.
Now, a horror movie I think COULD benefit from a solid remake is “Pet Semetary”.

Are you fucking crazy? Friday the 13th remake was great. Halloween remake was good, but not better than the Friday remake.
The movie was great. Freddy was scary and funny, but in a creepy way. It was great. The further along it went, the quieter the crowd became, and the more serious it became. I actually couldn’t analyze this movie like I do other horror movies.
WolBarret’s review: Amazing. Take your gurl, go with your friends, or go alone. Kicked ass.
If you don’t like it, fuck off and watch Sex and the City 2.

Thanks for the review, will watch it first showing tomorrow and post my review.
I’ll preface my review by saying I’m a HUGE Freddy fan. I saw all of the old Nightmares [except for the first two] in the theater, have them all on tape [that’s right, VHS bitches], have seen almost every episode of the tv show [how many of ya’ll remember that?] and even still have the 3-D “Freddy Vision” glasses they handed out for “Freddy’s Dead”. With that out of the way… This was awesome. They did a great job of keeping it creepy while still having some humor. There will never be anyone as good as Englund, but Haley did a damn good job, and the way they integrated parts of the series into one film was seamless. To me, it’s by far the best of the recent remakes. Any horror fan needs to check this out.
Whiteflash, did you think it was better than Dawn of the Dead remake? If so, this movie would be theater worthy.

You know what man? I actually forgot about the DoD remake when I wrote that. I’d really have to think about it but off the top they’re probably equally as good in different ways. If you’re a horror fan then this is definitely a flick you gotta catch at the movies. They did an impressive job with this man. I’ll say this: This will be the first of the recent remakes that I’ll buy on DVD as soon as it comes out.
I saw it last night…thought it was kinda so-so. The acting was decent, but I thought the scares were pretty cheap; mostly the jump out and say “Boo!” kinda thing. I did like it as it got more serious towards the end, but really wasn’t all that scary.
Yeah, I read about that a few months back. That has potential to be awesome
I agree. The creator of the recent Battlestar Galactica series is writing the script. I’m sold…
That I didn’t know. Not a big sci-fi guy, and am unfamiliar with the new BG but understand that those who know these things love it, so that seems pretty promising. Anybody heard anything about the Robocop remake?

It’s not so much that it’s scary as much as it’s really well done. It just plays out really well, and the more I think about it the more I like how they played Freddy and what Haley did with him.

If you’re a fan of Carpenter’s The Thing, I recommend you watch the remake of BSG even if you’re not into sci-fi (just watch the first season and you’ll be hooked). I won’t give too much away, but BSG presents a similar situation - basically a lot of people thrown together, in a desperate situation, not knowing who the hell to trust. They couldn’t have chosen a better writer, IMO.
I don’t know, I grew up watching and loving the original Bad News and it’s hard for me to picture Kelly Leak all grown up as Freddy. Maybe it’s just me.
