Hi, I’m new to trt. I’ve gone to my urologist a year ago feeling tired and low libido. They did a total testosterone check and a psa screen. The psa came back good and the testosterone came back at 340. My doc prescribed me axiron that I used for a month, I went back to get my testosterone checked again and it dropped to 320. He then gave me an injection and then I went back to have levels checked again. They came back at 1200 and said they may be stimulated and to come back in 6 months to have it checked again. I did and now testosterone level is 280. They are having me go back to start therapy next week. I’m 40 years old and my question is what would be the optimal testosterone level I would be trying to reach? I’m also new to all of this and don’t know what to ask them about other blood work they should be looking at. Estrogen? Free testosterone?
Your doc is a fool and you need to learn a lot. Start with stickies. They’re in the about T replacement section of this forum. TRT is a life time therapy, your doc knows less than my 10 year old cousin. He gave you one injection and thought you’d magically start making it again?
Yes, your doc isn’t up to speed. Read the stickies and then ask what questions you have. There are many folks here that will help but you will be best served by reading first.

- things that damage your hormones
- protocol for injections
- finding a TRT doc
Where are you located? Someone might suggest some options.
Urologists are typically useless at these things. You can know more then they do in a week or so.
