Finally got down to the weight I want to start at this week, I’ve been stuck buying sups from GNC for a long time now, and just feel like their products…well…suck. The accolades the T-Men and Women here have given Biotest finally has struck my interest. My goals are the same as most of us here, not only to LOOK strong, but to BE strong as well.
So here’s the deal: I have no supplements left at my house right now, and want to order from the store, but there’s a crapload of products to choose from, I need some help building a “Starter Kit”. I’d like to keep it under around 200 bucks, so I’m not neck deep in expenditures if for some reason I don’t like the products.
If you need 3 - 4 shakes a day, then 3 tubs of Metabolic Drive and 1 tub of Grow! Whey. I’d add in a thing of Flameout. This would keep it under 200 for the month.

Goals are fairly straightforward, I have gotten down from 240 to 180 pounds. I would of course like to increase muscle mass, define the midsection and legs. I tend to shoot for a high goal, like the cover of TC’s book, that way I always have something to strive for. There’s some current pictures I just trew on my profile to give a starting reference point.
First off congrats on loosing the weight! I went through about the same thing(still working on it) over the last year. So here is what I find helped me out a lot:
Surge $30/tub
Low Carb Metabolic Drive $30/tub
Creatine $12/container
Surge is probably the most important thing to me on the T-Nation store. Don’t train without it if you can help it. Plus chocolate Surge and strawberry Metabolic Drive tastes great together!
Low Carb Metabolic Drive tastes good and has a good mix of proteins in it. If you are really strapped for cash you can find cheap whey anywhere.
Creatine from the store is cheap and delivers amazing results. you get 100 scoops for $12 and since I only take it post workout it will last practically forever. Don’t be fooled by the expensive sugar filled crap at GNC.
Flameout is supposed to be great but I had bought a ton of fish oil caps before I found out about it so I haven’t tried it yet so I can’t give a personal experience with it.
Overall you can’t go wrong with anything on the store. Biotest only has quality products. You won’t be disappointed.
I personally hate when people call protein powders “food” - yes, it’s food but still a supplement to a good diet - so I think its cost should be included in a monthly supps bill.
Do you guys only use Metabolic Drive for pre-bed shakes? I want to have a shake in the morning and one at night, and if I use only Metabolic Drive that comes out to 4 tubs ($120) a month. But if I get one tub of Grow!, I can make shakes that are half Grow! Whey and half Metabolic Drive, and save $30. What’s the consensus?
How much Metabolic Drive do you guys go through in a month, out of curiosity?
OP, If you can afford it, I’d say:
Metabolic Drive (figure out how many Metabolic Drive shakes you’ll drink per month)
Surge
Flameout
ZMA (too cheap not to pick up)
Creatine
Exotic stuff?
BCAAs
Alpha Male (or Carbolin 19 + TRIBEX, each at their full doses)
