Hey guys tomorrow I’m getting my shot at PCP’S office of 100mg test cypionate in glute. It’ll begin my 6th week of these injections. I’m only 25 and had a Total test level of 230’s maybe lower on April 25th bloodwork. That was the only thing TRT related that was tested because its all I asked for besides the basics of vitamins, etc.
I’m making an appointment with an endocrinologist because my PCP seems to not know much about TRT. Matter of fact he wanted to have me come to officeand have 200mg injected once or twice a month the first time I told him about wanting to go on TRT. I had to make apt later after I done research to convince him to do 100mg every Friday. I have to come to his office as he doesn’t prescribe testosterone injections although he does for androgel, etc. due to safety issues. Whats worse is that last appointment yesterday I told him 100mg isn’t optimal right now after 5 weeks he suggested to possibly stop all together since I’m not getting benefits…“Whats the point?” He said. I told him “well I do notice something” so I could continue the injections. WTF man that isn’t right lol.
I noticed it might’ve started working last Monday at the gym as every set was increased at least one rep or moved up weight. Which was weird cause I’ve been lifting only 4 months consistently but hadn’t noticed a fast strength gain like that since first 1-2 months I think. However I feel only slightly better than when I started. I take Dexedrine(prescription amphetamine similar although better than Adderall for “Adult ADD”) so its hard to tell with energy as its a strong stimulant as it is. I noticed I’m thinking about sex more which is pushing me more to cold approach chicks and ask em out…
I’m would really love to eventually move up to 200mg/week max dose to assist with the gym and help body transformation. I’ve done a cycle of 500mg/test a week for 12 weeks when I was 19 which was super stupid of me but I was visiting India for 9 months and got it from pharmacy without a script and wanted to take advantage. It was a waste cause the muscle I gained fell off even faster than I gained with the test after I was done with cycle/pct. But hey I don’t mind 140-200mg test a week for life if it helps with bodybuilding and wellbeing as well concentration. My add might actually be from low test.
What can I tell endocrine doctor about moving up dosage as technically 100mg I feel like I’m not at optimal test levels on the first appointment? If this dude keeps me at 100mg ill be pissed for real.
Also how long do full benefirs take to come? Starting 6th week tomorrow am I already there?
Thanks and have a great day!
I seriously doubt your experience is going to be any different with your endocrinologist, expect the same nonsense injecting 200 mg once every two weeks. I doubt he’ll even know what tests to order.
If your SHBG is lower you may need to think about injecting multiple times a week. If your Endo doesn’t believe in testing SHBG or estrogen while on TRT he’s not going to be able to help you.
Adderal has that mid-day crash, so it will be difficult to tell if TRT is giving you more energy. My positive response to TRT only happens when I’m injecting smaller doses (15-20mg) every other day, 50mg twice a week and I feel mediocre, no erection, no libido.
Understand that everyone is different, that’s why these cookie-cutter protocols don’t work, treatment needs to be individualized and if the doctor doesn’t know how to read your blood biomarkers he’s not going to be able to do anything for you.
You will stumble through life wondering why TRT doesn’t fully work for you. Most seek private care to receive the full benefits of TRT.
What do you mean seek private care…PCP/GENERALIST DOCTOR?
How is it possible you get better benefits from 15-20mg every other day which is 45-60mg/week vs 50mg twice a week? Shouldn’t it be the other way around lol
Thanks for letting me know to test for SHGB or rather remind him if he doesn’t bring it up…I got to do research on what all these hormone stuff means and normal levels for it besides test.
I’m optimistic Endo will be better than generalist but if it’s what you described that’s pretty sad despite being a specialist in HRT.
Reminds me of when psychiatrist wanted to prescribe weird doses of Adderall or other meds that doesn’t do me good lol. Which is why I get it from generalist as he’s open to suggestions from what I research
You need to research and find a MD in your area that knows hormones. You may go through a few Drs but you should find one especially if u live in USA. Sometimes a urologist who specializes in hormones or reproduction is good to.
You can also call compound pharmacies and ask which doctors prescribe testosterone.
It’s always a good idea to see an Endocrinologist even if they don’t prescribe trt. They can check for the vast many other conditions. This is complicated stuff.
I really don’t think it’s appropriate to tell members to go private especially in the USA. You can go private and be miserable to and wasted a lot of money. There are many areas of the country that have many men on HRT and they do not all go private.
Private care outside of insurance, private care is where all the good doctors have gone since the disaster that is Obamacare. Injecting smaller doses of testosterone more frequently can raise levels higher without all the side effects of injecting large doses less frequently. Too many guys get hooked on more testosterone is better and get trapped into this way of thinking which sabotages recovery.
25mg gets me to 1000+ ng/dL, I would need 80mg twice weekly (160mg weekly) to reach the same levels. These larger doses will drive estrogen production and if high enough will kill libido and your erections and you will feel unwell. Endo’s can be the worst when it comes to TRT, TRT isn’t something most endo do on a regular basis, so they tend to suck at it.
The medical community has largely ignored hormones therapy for decades do to the belief TRT causes prostate cancer (false) and for this reason few know how to do it well.
I didn’t go to the endocrinologist because the doctor himself called me a few hours before first appointment saying I’m very young to go on treatment, who’s treating me and how much I’m taking but that we’ll talk about it in appointment.
I’ve read reviews on him and it’s 2.6/10 cause supposedly he assumes without listening to patients as one of complaints lol.
Should I seek an endocrinologist/urologist/anyone besides generalist that is giving me the 100mg shot every Friday?
BTW he doesn’t prescribed injectible test for safety reasons so I have to actually get them at office so no way I’m able to inject 20mg every other day etc under his care…it’s cool to know the option you suggested for future though.
Also this Friday will be 7th Injections which means it will be 6 weeks on trt. This is the stage doctors say that most patients have noticed significant improvement. I’ve only experienced higher sex drive, slightly although not a big deal strength gain in workouts. Are benefits still coming for me??
