Your FT is the same as mine was when I scored a Total T of 225 which just goes to show you how your high SHBG is overstating your TT status. You need TRT.
I hope Defy will prescribe it. I’d like to have more energy and my sex drive and hard-ons back. Looking at the IGF-1 is that considered low? Do they ever scribe HGH?
They will, I’ve seen case better than yours who were given TRT, about HGH I don’t know.
Estrodiol sensitive just came back at 8.1 pg/ml in a range of 8.0-35!
That’s bad for joints and bones, it’s probably worst than your low T. Good thing is TRT will fix both.
you’re getting my hopes up! I hope it makes me feel better.
“Good news, I’m waiting on a consult with Defy Medical but my rT3 was 24 on a range of 8-25. I’m tired all the time, slow waking up and a host of other issues. I’m hoping they’ll put me on some T3 meds to get me where I need to be plus TRT as my T is low as well as my E.”
DHEA-S is suboptimal. Find 25mg DHEA on Vitamin shelves in USA. See earlier about how to take and take 5,000iu Vit-D3 at the same time.
TSH=2.5 can also be elevated from high dose iodine, harmless, but makes the TSH result un-useful.
You are GH deficient. You can get a script, but can you manage ~6K $US?
High LH indicates secondary hypogonadism and high SHBG is masking the problem by inflating TT with non-bioavailable SHBG+T.
By taking T3 meds you need to be depressing TSH low to shut down a major part of T4 production in the thyroid to have less fT4 for fT4–>rT3. If you take typical generic T3 it will be fast acting and that TSH depression may not be as continuous as needed. And fast acting can may one jittery or over heated. I take 25mcg sustained release T3. I do not know how I would react trying to get 25mcg fast release T3 on board.
If you get TRT right, get thyroid under control and inject 1iu hGH ED your life will be transformed! Remember that Vit-D3 is an enabler and cortisol also needs to be adequate. I am doing all the first part, my cortisol levels are good now, perhaps a result of other things in balance.
My story. Was iodine deficient after wife purchased “Real Salt” and iodine replenishment recovered energy, mood and body temperatures. A few years later body temperatures were lower and iodine would not fix. Doc and me tried Nature Thyroid, similar to Armour Thyroid and body temps would not recover. We assumed that rT3 was probably high and went to 25mcg SR T3 which worked. We never tested rT3, I did not feel that that was necessary. Other doctors would need that data.
KSman,
First off, thank you for all the insight. It’s truly appreciated.
I have been taking DHEA 25 mg for about a year now and 5000iu D3 for about 4 years. along with Vit-C, Krill oil, zinc, etc.
I just had my thyroid tested 2 weeks ago and TSH was 1.1 with T4 at 1.49, T3 at 3.2 and rT3 at 24. (listed in my first post of this thread). I read your thyroid sticky and started taking iodine in droplet form every morning along with brazil nuts for selenium (is that why my TSH went up from TSH of 1.1 just two weeks earlier?). I haven’t noticed any difference.
A few days later after thyroid test I decided to do saliva cortisol test…waiting on those results as that’s a mail-in test.
then just the other day got all the blood work from Defy back and am waiting on phone consultation from them on May 14th. But was shocked to see things so messed up with me. Looks like I’m a candidate for TRT and Thyroid meds.
You are suggesting GH? I don’t know anything about that. Why is it so expensive and is that something that Defy will scribe? The money isn’t really an issue (I don’t mean that arrogantly, just I’m willing to pay to feel good). what would the GH do for me?
GH is made with recombinant DNA methods and the prices through Rx channels is very costly. It is not fast acting, sort of 6 weeks later you notice that things are better/improving.
T=hCG are quite synergistic.
Defy will script it, but do you have to get it delivered by them?
@systemlord With my labs where they are, how much T do you predict Defy putting me on with my E2 low, FT low and SHBG high? Saw in another thread you correctly predicted how much a guy would be put on. Just curious.
You’ll need a bit more than average do to the high SHBG, they probably won’t start you out on an AI since most of your free hormones are bound and not free.
More than 100mg, that’s a certainty. I’ll guess 140mg once weekly.

@KSman just got my cortisol tests back. wjat can you make of it? Is it low? Thanks for any feedback.
TRT has been known to drive cortisol down which can kill two birds with one stone if already high pre-TRT, however if already low…
Defy consult in 3 hours. I’ll update later today what the protocol will be. Looking forward to it.
Quick up date as I don’t have time to write a bunch. But 200mg T with hCG. No AI for now and T3 meds for my high rT3. Said they were surprised at how good of shape I was in physical for how messed up my labs are. I’ll writer more when I have some time.
Possible hGH in three months if my IGF doesn’t come up
Defy was awesome. Super informative and helpful.
So, here it is.
-100mg twice a week for a total of 200mg. Because of high SHBG and such low FT
-hCG
-No AI right now because my E2 is so low. Says to wait until next labs or if I show symptoms of high E2
-T3 med for my thyroid. 5mcg first week then to 10mcg second week. See how I feel. Can go to 15mcg third week if needed. This is to combat my super high rT3
-compounded 25mg of DHEA since mine is at the bottom.
-wait until 3 month lab for new IGF-1 and see if I will still need hGH.
Said I should start feeling much better as we get everything dialed in. Just preferred everything through Defy for a total of 341 dollars for essentially a 3 month supply. I will submit to my insurance to see if they reimburse anything. Either way looking forward to it all. Hopefully libido, energy, hard-ons, and fat burning and such will all return.
T3 medication is a timed release? Do you take 1 a day?
Curious because my wife has appt with Endo and her rt3 is exactly like yours. Can you give me the context of what they said about that?
Thanks.
I don’t think it’s timed release. He said one pill a day. Maybe I’ll ask tomorrow if they can make it timed release.
So did my first injection of 100mg of T today in the stomach. As well as the hCG. Is it ok to do both SQ in the stomach or should I do different locations?
I did not like the 25ga 5/8ths needle for the T. The hCG I used 31ga 5/16ths. I think I’ll use the 31ga for the T as well (different syringe of course).
Woke up with anxiety last night. Not sure if that’s the T, the T3 or the DHEA I am taking. Still have some anxiety today. Is this a normal reaction for some? I’m hoping it goes away.
