No worries, the LA Times article was fairly misleading because it’s really unclear what level the people who owe the money operate within the government especially with statements like you just quoted which implies the senators are the culprits. Seemed to be trying to inflame the populous without being specific about who is doing what. I’d be interested if there are any elected officials who fall within that range or if it’s more of the civil servant variety. Shameful either way but more egregious when it’s an elected official.
