Dude, give someone a Katana and see how fast he could kill 4 people. I bet if the dude had a good sword he would have split everyone in the room. If someone wants to go off and kill the fuck out of people, the government is not going to stop them. Hell dude could have driven over a line of people waiting outside a club and killed a shitload of people. Guns are not the problem, mental instability is the problem.

dude you have to take in consideration that shooting someone from a distance is something else than splitting him up with a katana psychologically. I dont think he would had the courage to kill people with a sword.
Doubt it, nut jobs are nut jobs. They don’t operate on rational thought etc. They should be lucky he used a handgun and not a sword, even an untrained individual could cause a lot of damage with a sword in close quarters.
Learned helplessness. Defense mechanism. He “learned” early on that nothing that he could do could change his situation (he alludes to this many times in his blog like his brother bullying him or how he already believed as fact that every girl that dated him would not like him) it helped him cope with his failures with women, obviously not healthily.

Dude, having someone always helps.
If he had a woman, I think he’d have just taken his anger out on her.

Yeah, me too. I have a very similar dislike for my sibling as he had for his… wow. That was really sad. You guys can make all the jokes in the world you want, and call the guy a POS and all of the rest, but when you get right down to it, it sounds like this guys family fucked his head up from an early age. Yes the blog is VERY emo and an out-and-out cry for help but I really get the sense that this guys family shit on his soul. He really wanted a ‘redo’ at life. Such a fucking shame.
This is a horrible event, I feel for the innocent people that lost their lives, but there is much to be gleaned from it other than some 5 word intrawebz quick-reply jokes.
Seriously, we should all try and treat those around us just a little bit better.
I had issues like this back in middle school when it came to girls and self-esteem. I could never make friends, and I was always getting bullied. It’s middle school, right? Except I assumed that no one else got it as bad as me, because I was just born that way. I never felt different because my oldest brother who was my favorite role model became a severe schizo, so as I was just becoming a teenager, I never knew how to have a personality that other people relate to. All that I could base myself off was my dad, and it took me awhile to realize that I should be like him. I feel lucky, because this guy did not have one role model.

I can do this. Leaving work today, I felt like a zombie - just going thru the motions. Get on the bus, get the car, drive home…My mind is screwed up anymore, I can’t concentrate at work or think at all.
This log is not detailed. It is only for confidence to do this. The future holds even less than what I have today.
It is 6:40pm, about hour and a half to go. God have mercy. I wish life could be better for all and the crazy world can somehow run smoother. I wish I had answers. Bye.
It is 8:45PM: I chickened out! Shit! I brought the loaded guns, everything. Hell!
I wonder how many people nearly lost their lives that day.

Yea, if the dude has a gym bag full of guns, and he is going in to use them, I think he could handle a sword. That shit would be really traumatizing for people who survived too. Imagine seeing the girl next to you getting hacked up, screaming as her… Well lets not get into too much detail here, you get the point, it is much more brutal than pointing and shooting. And no, it does not take a crazy person to do this. In the older ages before guns, people routinely, had to hack another human up with a sword. It was kinda common back in the day.
I just got back from vacation and saw this on the early morning news.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all who have been affected by this fucking psycho. I haven’t called around yet, but a few friends of mine live over in Bridgeville and more than likely know a few people who work out there.
My girlfriend lives in the South Hills and works out at a gym nearby. Apparently, when it opened, many people left for that LA Fitness. She wasn’t one.
To anyone who goes there, I’m thankful you’re okay. Thoughts go out to friends and family.
While loneliness may have lit the fire, I think many are missing one of the key statements he made as to why he did it. Control. As an ex computer person I can definitely relate. Anything you want on a computer you tell it to do it and it does it. If it doesn’t it’s your error and you fix it. Unfortunately the rest of life isn’t like that and it can be depressing as hell when you follow logic all day. (I’m not trying to justify what he did, just that we may want stop trying to trick the kids)
When growing up your told to get a gorgeous wife/girlfriend get good job, money, be good looking and romance them… I’m sure plenty of you know women aren’t ever that simple.
To be a millionaire be smart, work hard, and you’ll be successful. Unfortunately it’s not that simple either, you forget about vision, opportunity, and social aptitude.
In lacking the ability to control his surroundings he lost control mentally and figured the only thing he could control was life & death.
and i thought working out was the answer to everything, especially mental wellbeing. I wonder what program was he on, I bet it didnt involve deadlifts and squats.

Not really.
The 13th step- Approach desirable woman. Say “I really like what you shared tonight. The part about … was very touching and/or meaningful. Want to get a cup of coffee?”
