298 Million Yr Old Forest Found

You are quite the fervent defender of your faith, I will give you that.
Difference is, I defend my “faith” with basic logic and facts. If you could’ve convincingly refuted anything in that quote, you would have.

You defend your faith on obfuscation, an irrational suspension of critical thought and semantics.

I’m still chuckling at how several of the ones whose names I listed ran like scalded dogs from this thread. Just bold enough to do the initial drive-by shooting but not quite bold enough to stick around for the knife fight.

Ha! Isn’t life awesome?
Not running. Just know that you are never wrong.
Never wrong that EVERYONE takes some things on faith. Many do it with little to no “how-to-think” and a whole bunch of “what to think”.

It’s uncanny.
Okay. You’re right. You are the only one who knows how to think.

Even though I disagree with Push’s opinion on evolution/creation, I have to agree it’s brutal people used this thread as an opportunity to bash young earthers and creationists.

It’s uncanny. But understandable. So many are still sitting in the high chair begging momma to feed 'em their pureed carrots.
Some of us are here to learn, sir

Thanks for you post. I do sincerely appreciate it and the thought behind it. I don’t have a problem with someone like you coming on and defending your position in this manner.

Having said that you and I both know that when something is based on assumption there must be a margin for error. That margin is certainly debatable and in the cases of the distant unobservable past, intuitively and logically we know that margin is undefined and ultimately must be determined with some degree of faith.

My beef on this thread was not with the likes of you; it was with the disciples who looked at this find and their immediate first thought was to lob a grenade at a competing line of thinking. They did this with little to no knowledge of how the geological and fossil ages are established and on what thin ice, i.e., assumptions they actually rest on.

One IS a fervent ideologue when one’s first compunction after reading a news article like this is to attack creationism. It clearly shows an underlying bias and an almost religious like faith. It’s uncanny.
So we’re not allowed to rely on vetted journal articles but you’re allowed to freely accept everything in a book you’re told is absolute truth?

LOL at ‘competing line of thinking.’

I got called out over a joke? I have no idea if the way they found the date is right or not. But I do think as they continue to search around it we can find more about the origins of the planet and how species evolved.

You must have missed the comments on the original link. This was mentioned in one of the first posts.
Did you miss this one?

“It’s funny. In this New Age way of thinking, acceptance and being non-judgmental is key. Yet, every chance there is, people slam Christianity.”
I was slamming young earth creationists.

Yep, you got called out over a joke. You joke out of sheer ignorance. That’s your right of course but in the process your intellectual mettle can certainly be called into question.
I was making a joke regarding the people who think Satan put fossils in the ground to make non believes, I was not saying or implying that all Christians or even the vast majority of Christians believe that.

Push, let’s forget the number 298 million years. Geologically, how long do you think it would require to cover an entire forest under a mountain of coal? This wasn’t just a few feet under the ground. If they were using heavy machinery to dig deep, we are looking at a lot of sediment build up over a very long time.

Fair enough, John. My mistake.
It’s all good.
