Hey guys I’m 27 years old and I have low T. I was born with cryptorchidism of one testicle. The other one is fine. Anyways I’ve seen about four endocrinologists over the past five years. These docs claim there is nothing wrong with me and treat me as if I’m some sort of drug seeking addict. They all had lab work done on me and my T levels have shown every time to be low. One of my tests for example showed my
Testosterone, Serum valued at 272 ng/dL. Range: 280-800. The free floating T levels on the other lab work was under the range also (cant find that lab report right now) and the
TSH value was 1.230 uIU/mL based off a Range: 0.450-4.500
All of my doctors say I’m fine since i have secondary sex characteristics. One of my docs said since my T level is only 8 points off from the normal range which isnt a big deal. Being in my 20’s I"m assuming my T levels are suppose to be in their prime right now. I no longer have a sex drive anymore, I’m always foggy (feel confused all the time as if I’m not in control of anything in my life), cant focus, dont have that aggression/pump/confidence/edge I had in my teens anymore. Always being foggy and not being able to focus has destroyed my life. I cant focus at work and can’t focus in school. One of the doctors thought I had ADHD so they put me on some ADHD medication and that has not corrected my brain fog/inability to focus.
Aside from that, I have an acute form of gyno and I have a large amount of abdominal fat that does not go away regardless of how much I heavy weight lift and eat clean and do cardio. I’ve tried taking ZMA, Tribulus, mulivitamins, doing heavy lifts (bench press, deadlifts, squats), eating tons of protein. Nothing is working. I dont know what the F to do.
One of my doctors said she would never give me any T-replacement therapy because it would be harmful for me to start in my 20s. She said my body would stop producing the T its making and eventually my body could stop responding to the synthetic T. Has anyone ever experienced anything like this before? If so it would be great to hear about what you did. In addition, if anyone has any advice it would be great to hear it.

Please read these stickies:
finding a TRT doc
advice for new guys
Post your labs in list form with ranges.
Looking for LH/FSH as an important indicator
Most docs are idiots when dealing with sex hormones and thyroid function.[/quote]
Thank you for the links and sorry about the late response. I’m reading through the stickies as we speak. I live in Philadelphia. As of now I have yet to have any success with any endos. They all agree i have low free floating T etc. and get very aggressive with me the moment I bring up T therapy. To be honest I think these docs just want to collect copayments, charge the insurance company and do the least amount of therapy because God forbid anything happens to a patient (which could possibly happen when dealing wtih anything medical related) they dont wanna get sued and take a shot in their bank accounts. I’m disgusted by this.
Hey man, I’m pretty much in the same boat as you. I had a hernia surgery when I was 16 on my left teste. The doctors messed up somehow and about 5 years later the teste went up almost inside. Another few years the teste stopped producing the needed amount of T that I needed. I would guess that my T levels were around 300 before the teste stopped producing.
I assumed (correctly) that when I went to my primary care Dr that I had low T levels. I had some pretty classic symptoms… The top ones were terrible mood, very low libido (I would go flat halfway during sex), and low to no muscle gain.
One I finally got tested I ranged from 190 - 210. Now, every body is different for needs of T. In my case I think 300 was just Ok, but 400 feels much better. I am going to talk to my doc some more about possibly raising, but I’m already injecting 150 ml a week.
Now, I’ve heard different stories on the next bit I’m about to tell you. First, docs look to see if you have any symptoms of low T (specifically libido and muscle gain, partly mood). If you are feeling good in those departments they likely will not prescribe to you since the level of T in your body is working regardless of the reading. I’ve been told in about 20% of T replacement the body will stop producing it’s own T and the injections take over all the work. As well, if you only have one teste, you should expect it to do all the work with your brain to produce T. Even if it’s at a lower amount. Most docs don’t want to prescribe if there are no symptoms due to this chance. Injecting T can put you at higher risks for certain cancers and other issues. Obviously it’s better to have the T injection than to be very low (100 level) since you can develop even worse conditions than the risk of cancer.
I’ve pretty much assumed that my body has stopped producing most of the T, as my levels are 360-380 at the moment with 150 ml per week. My libido and mood are much better. However my muscle gain is still very slow. I’ve been going to the gym for 2.5 straight years, on T for 1 year. Most arm weights I’m really low at 1/3 - 1/2 body weight). Leg is about 1 - 1.75x body weight. This isn’t that great for how much effort I’ve put in.
