24 Y/O with T Level of 142ng/dL

I will try to keep this intro short and to the point about myself.
I will be updating this thread as I find more out about my bloodwork and everything else.

I am newly 24. Turned 24 in mid June.
I haven’t really gone to the doctor much in my life and the most I really saw a doctor was when I was briefly in the Army before I suffered hip fractures and was discharged the end of January 2017. I was about 145lbs then, now I am at 175 and have gained a lot of fat in my stomach and sides. I’ve lost a decent amount of muscle definition. When I was discharged I hadn’t been eating much that last month due to having some teeth pulled so I dropped about 10 pounds. 150 lbs has been my average since I was 15.

I suffer from mild ED, I can’t maintain erections during intercourse and use Viagra to fix that issue for now. Been in a healthy relationship for 4 years and my partner finally convinced me to get myself a primary because I’ve been having a lot of random chest pains associated with very high BP randomly.

I have just only recently really started growing a beard, chest hair, and stomach hair. I have about maybe 15 hairs on my chest that are all very light and the rest focused around my aeriola. My stomach also began sprouting hair quite a significant amount more since one year from this eaten. I’ve had absolutely no energy, insomnia which is made even worse with my Tinnitus and throbbing hip pains.

I had my first set of tests done two weeks ago. Almost immediately my doctor called me. I don’t recall what exactly all was tested but I will update this when I meet with my doctor next week. I remember discussing my T and free T levels.
He said the rest were also alarmingly low but he told me that my T levels were :
T : 142ng/dL which I know is very low. I haven’t even been able to find forums online with someone my age and levels this low.
Free T : 30ng/dL and stated that about 43 I think was normal.

It’s hard to pinpoint when all this started but I’ve had erection issues since I was 15. Although my sex drive has always been okay I think. I’ve probably slept with around 70 women since age 13 and have been in a healthy relationship for four years now.
I have never worked out and my body always stayed somewhat toned. Post Army my stomach had almost no fat on it and pretty defined abs and chest. Now my chest seems rather fatty and my stomach is significantly chubbier, along with my hips.

I mean really, I have already decided if my doctor offers TRT, I am going to 100% do it. Regardless of the risks. I have already weighed this out.
When he received my first lab results he told me he immediately called an Endo and consulted with them. They gave him a list of recommended tests and I went again to take another round of blood tests at 8am.

I recall the list stating :
Free T test, Leutinizing Hormone, CBC, FSH, Prolactin, and some others. My doctor asked if I ever injured my testicles and I can’t really think of anything. I rarely got hit in the balls by girls in middle school but I did suffer a really bad motorcycle crash where I blacked out when I hit the deer and woke up flipping so I guess it’s possible I hit them then but I blew open my knee so I pretty much was distracting that and my skinned foot lol.

Has anyone on here had a <150ng/dL Testosterone level like me?
I’m just kind of concerned since it’s so low and I literally have not seen a single post online about someone my age with similar levels.

When I meet with my doctor next week like I said, I will update this with the levels for the first and second set of tests and all other stuff discussed with him.

Hi elgrian,

My name is Hassan and I wanted to reach out to you today because I have helped many people struggling with low testosterone whether it be because of primary/secondary hypogonadism, injury, or just general underproduction of testosterone . I work for a company called Defy Medical and we are stationed in Tampa, FL. We treat countless people both locally and remotely on the road to wanting to improve their life and low T symptoms by conducting lab tests on our patients through LabCorp and having them schedule in person or over the phone consultations with one of our medical providers to discuss treatment options based on their symptoms. Our medical director Dr. Saya is well known in the field and has dedicated his life to helping those who have low testosterone through prescribing bio-identical hormones to try and optimize hormone levels and to help mitigate symptoms of low testosterone that are plaguing people all around the world. We work with multiple compounding pharmacies (Empower, Hallandale, APS) that helps to fill and ship out our patients medications to their home and work address for them to conveniently administer their own medication themselves. We do have medical staff that works Monday-Saturday that can help guide our patients to take their medication properly should they have any questions or concerns.

I have worked for this great company for a year and a half and I can say that I have personally helped many people around the nation as young as 20 all the way up to 80 conduct blood work to make them aware of their levels, and to facilitate consultations with our medical providers to allow them to take control of their health and take their life back because we all know that living life with low testosterone can be correlated with depression, anxiety, weight gain, decreased muscle mass, tiredness/excessive fatigue to name a few symptoms.

We have 2 physicians on staff (Dr. Saya and Dr. Calkins) as well as 3 mid-level providers that are qualified and trained to consult with patients and formulate treatment plans based on their lab results and the symptoms they are experiencing. I work as an intake specialist and I can honestly say that our providers truly care for our patients and want to help them take control of their health. We typically like to treat patients for TRT that have a total testosterone below 550 ng/dl but offer other therapies like Clomid stimulation, HCG monotherapy, thyroid restoration and HPTA restart regimens for those trying to come off of trt safely and to try and help them restart their body’s own natural production by having them on a cycle of HCG and Clomid for a period of time.

I would love to do my best to answer any questions you may have about TRT and offer you advice and my direct work contact info should you decide you want to be evaluated for treatment by one of our medical providers at Defy Medical. Our online reviews speak for themselves and we have so many patients who can attest to the benefits they have reaped by having a blood test conducted and a consultation to go over their labs and any medical issues they want addressed with our knowledgeable providers. I want to thank you for your time and look forward to hearing back from you. Have a great day!

You will be hard pressed to locate an endo or urologist who knows how to do TRT properly, most of us here have gone through several doctors because almost no one inside insurance based healthcare is properly trained in how to administer TRT, hormones aren’t even covered in medical school and is the reason most don’t do hormones therapy and why they are so bad at it if they attempt it.

SHBG is measured and a protocol is designed around this value, it will determine dosing and injection frequency. Everyone’s protocol will be different, some two injections a week, others injections every other day and for those with super low SHBG everyday injections.

None of this is covered in medical school, so doctors create cookie cutter protocols (200mg once every two weeks) designed for everyone and fail the majority of men, often making you feel worse than pre-TRT and doctors don’t know what to do because they have no training.

TRT will improve bone strength and help your body repair damaged tissue from your injury, estrogen is needed for bones and yours has got to be low since testosterone is low. The lack of energy, insomnia and lack of hair is because of low hormone levels.

I got tired of my doctors not know what tests to run or how to elevate my symptoms and chose Dr. Saya of Defy Medical to treat me, best decision I’ve could have made. Dr. Saya knew exactly what was causing all my symptoms and formed a plan of action. Blood are drawn at labcorp, consults are over the phone and all medicine is mailed to me.
