23, Potentially Low Testosterone?

Hello all, been reading a bit around the boards and hoping to get some advice. I feel that I have may have low T from reading some of the symptoms(lethargy, weak, lack of strength gains in the gym, little facial/body hair. I’m thinking about getting it tested this week but still a bit unclear about what I need to ask my doctor for and what tests I need specifically. Thank you all for your help and knowledge.

-age: 23

-height: 6’2"

-waist: 32

-weight: 180

-describe body and facial hair: Very little facial hair, only need to shave every few days and even then I only get a light mustache and some on my chin. Not much hair on my chest or arms although normal amount on legs/pubes

-describe where you carry fat and how changed: Stomach/chest/legs primarily.

-health conditions, symptoms [history] no past medical problems, symptoms are that I tend to feel rather tired, I am also not gaining strength in the gym(weights, number of consecutive push-ups, etc)

-Rx and OTC drugs, any hair loss drugs or prostate drugs ever
None, take a multi vitamin+d+fish oil

-lab results with ranges: This is one of my main questions, I’ve seen numerous posts reccomending various tests but would like to know what I should definitely get tested, thinking about going to my doctor later this week.

-describe diet [some create substantial damage with starvation diets]: Pretty healthy(chicken, fish, rice, veggies, etc) try to get a lot of protein and eat clean, mainly drink water.

-describe training [some ruin there hormones by over training]: Gym 3 times a week, run 2-3 times a week

-testes ache, ever, with a fever? No

-how have morning wood and nocturnal erections changed: rarely have morning wood.

total testosterone
free testosterone

prolactin
estradiol
tsh
free t3,t4

cholesterol and glucose
Looking for low cholesterol in this case, diet may be too clean

What about thyroid function? Check your iodine intake and body temperature. See the thyroid basics sticky. At your age, need to find cause. Low T is not the cause, it is an effect.

Need history of your symptoms and any events that may have contributed.

Advice for new guys sticky.

Yes, you are a low-T type guy. Many do very well this way, but training for strength is probably as thin as your beard.

Do you have any hyper mobile joints?

Thanks Receptor, I have an appointment later this week so I’ll be sure to mention these.

Thanks KSman I really appreciate the tips. The too low cholesterol is an interesting thought, I’m going to the doctor this week and will be sure to post all my levels in this thread when I get the results. Reading some more in the stickies around thyroid issues that is definitely something I will check out, I’ll pick up a thermometer and take my temps in addition to getting bloodwork done. Receptor mentioned the tsh and free t3/4, any other tests that I should request?

As far as history of symptoms go, I guess I’ve always felt somewhat lethargic, also whenever I’ve tried to build strength I’ve never really gotten the results that should be expected for someone my age, in general my “baseline” I have always been pretty weak. Not sure if I would say my joints are hyper mobile.

Thanks for the help, let me know if you have any additional advice before I get my tests done and I’ll be sure to post them here when I get the results.
