2024 Presidential Candidate Talk

A couple years old so I’m sure the numbers have changed a little. I dont see where it specifies if the data is from retiring congressmen or lost reelection, but it’s for both parties so maybe it even out.

Those are essentially the same numbers I posted above, 8 for Republicans and 10 for Democrats. I don’t see that small of a difference as really mattering at all.

That being said, the reasoning given in the article MIGHT be correct, but it might not. It’s pretty speculative. But again, to me, 8 and 10 are essentially the same fucking thing, lol.

Have watched plenty of debates and this was never mentioned.

Name his good jobs. Are they related to campaign promises?

I second that observation.

I"m not sure what relevance scoring has to the debates we’re talking about, either. I debated competitively in Lincoln-Douglas format when I was in high school, so I’m certainly aware that SOME debates are scored. But that’s a competitive debate format. The debate you guys are talking about was not a competitive debate, so there wouldn’t be an official associated score. I suppose anyone could watch it and score it themselves, if they wanted to, just for funsies.

What was Professor Murphy’s defense/criticism of the workings of MMT?

Thanks!

Gun lovers like myself as a whole were apoplectic about Barack Obama. Despite this, the only two major gun bills that Obama signed into law actually expanded gun rights. One permitted Amtrak passengers to carry guns in checked baggage, and the other allowed for the carry of firearms in national parks. This was a reversal of a policy from Ronald Reagan that had required guns to be stored in locked trunks or locked glove compartments while in national parks.

Obama also put forth a control mechanism to look at the mental health of social security receiving citizens when doing background checks, which Trump tossed out. This would have affected about 75,000 people.

Trump with his bump stock ban affected more people with gun control over a non-issue than any president in the last quarter century. This affected over 500,000 people, businesses, and has been upheld in court.

Other than that Trump did absolutely nothing for gun rights.

I try to look at gun issues objectively because they are an emotional and close subject for me. Obama did more good for gun owners than Trump did.

Trump gets a fat F from me on guns.

Name someone you’d support if they ran for president.

Trump was freaking hilarious in the debates. Like him or not, he was pure comedy gold.

The 3 Supreme Court Justices should count toward something (assuming they pan out the way it looks like they will).

What, Obama the socialist?

At this point I have no one in mind but, that is not a worry for me. I place very little of importance in national electoral politics. It always ends up the same. Corruption to the hilt. Local politics and ballot initiatives are much more effective. Any person from the duopoly you support will just continue this country’s downhill slide. They are all bought and paid for. Just a bunch of corporate puppets like Biden.

Agreed. He was funny. Not giving a shit about the Bush dynasty. He made Jeb look like a toddler. I did enjoy his not giving a shit attitude.

Those for sure helped. His platform was very pro 2nd amendment but he didn’t do much there.

The justices being pro 2A weren’t in his mind that I can see, but we did get that at least.

With Trump living his youth in Queens and most his adult life in Manhattan would not typically make for a strong positive value of the 2A. Sure, he was smart enough to appeal to the rural voters and 2A proponents. But his heart might not have been in the pro-2A “fight”.

It’s relevant because Zep has repeatedly said:

and similar. So, he’s referred to it as though it were a competitive debate. He hasn’t just said, “I, a guy on disability who needs help getting my medication, like the idea of MMT.”

And I agree to an extent. But if you believe this, why are you posting so much in a thread focused on a national election in 2 years?

Maybe to see if there were any other leftists on here. Mostly I see a bunch of propagandized right-wingers giving cover to the people that help exploit the lower classes.

WTH, are you talking about? And MMT is just a description of how the economy works, especially on the federal level. It is a macroeconomic blueprint. For an explaination of how the system works, listen to macroncheese podcast from MMT activist Steve Grumbine. Stop believing in the lies and gross misunderstanding.
