Record it. I don’t start watching a game until the second quarter ends in real time.
The success of the offense dictates what we see. If they’re getting 1st downs and moving the ball then we can get 7-10 minutes of live action before an interruption. If it’s a defensive battle then it’s slow. Every change of possession and timeout is a commercial break. It’s not always that bad.
ROFLMFAO!!!
Karma. Belichick. Smirk.
I like Daniel Jones a lot, was not one of the critics of the Giants “overreaching” (no such thing when picking your QB of choice) and I think he will be at least a competent NFL quarterback.
That said, when the Giants re-signed OBJ to the massive contract, I (half in jest, admittedly) said they should’ve saved that cash to sign a free agent Cousins to replace Eli Manning. Man, Cousins was money today.
edit to add: outplayed Brees today, on the road no less
I used to watch this sport as a teenager and in college just because everyone else did but man after not watching it for some time and going back to it…
it’s really bad. I’m going to be shocked if the NFL is in the same realm of popularity in 10 years. I can’t see Gen Z enjoying something like this.
We’re accustomed to it. Try watching the College Championship on the 13th. It’ll be worse. Same with the Super Bowl.
The sport is actually growing. They keep increasing the number of games played in London each season. They play one game in Mexico and I wouldn’t be surprised to see more in the future.
London? I’ve been there and no one gives a flying fuck outside of Americans residing there. I have heard it is growing in Mexico though.
I gave up on watching the Super Bowl a few years ago when all the expensive commercials would air on YouTube immediately. The half time shows after that Justin and Janet one have all been absolutely terrible so there’s really no reason to watch.
There must be a lot of Americans. They had four games. The three at Wembley Stadium averaged 85,000 people in attendance this season.
This is why I love hockey. 60 minutes of game clock = 60 minutes of action.
Whereas for 60 minutes of football, you get 11 minutes of action.

And yet, with all that action, you can end up seeing less scoring. ![]()
there is actually. And I know a lot of people that have gone to those games, they say most people are there cuz they got free tickets, and half of them aren’t interested in what is going on. the other half is Americans. And yes there are a lot of Americans in London.
And yet, with all that action, you can end up seeing less scoring.
would it change things if we made every goal count as 7 points? cuz then a lot of games in both soccer and hockey you’d end up with 14-7 or 21-14 games.
I find this ‘more scoring’ complaint funny. why do you automatically think scoring =entertainment? I mean, no scoring sucks, I agree, but have you ever watched an Premier League soccer match? there is scoring, and it’s always emotionally impactful unlike some dude kicking a field goal.
love me playoff hockey. I can’t watch regular season though. too many games to care about.
I used to think that too. But if you think about it a 21-14 score in the NFL is really a 3-2 score. Very common in hockey and soccer. It only seems more in football because of the consolation (FG’s) and extra credit (PAT’s) points given.
If it was all about big scores surely basketball would be the best thing to watch? unfortunately going 2-0, 2-2. 4-2, all the way to 72-72 does not make an interesting game. When scoring is rarer each point is more pivotal. An extra goal in hockey or soccer or a try in Rugby means a lot more than another dunk.
Not opining on your NFL vs hockey thing, being in the UK I don’t watch either ![]()
I find it more entertaining. I don’t like the defensive battles any more than you. It’s awful to watch a game where it’s run, run, incomplete pass, punt.
I watch certain players and teams because I like them and want them to win. If a game has neither of those then I get bored.
I did and that’s why I said it can result in less scoring. Basketball is probably my favorite sport to watch. I’m not sure if it’s the scoring or my personal connection to the sport from playing it.
I find hockey and soccer to be extremely athletic endeavours. I just get bored watching on TV (in person is a different story).
If I really think about it, I get bored watching about any sport if I don’t have an emotional connection. I want my team to win. I want Drew Breeze to win because he appears to be a good person and great competitor.
I’m also a fan of good sports stories. I loved every minute of the Eagles Super Bowl run a couple years ago. The backup quarterback, Nick Foles, comes off the bench to lead the team to the title and wins the MVP? Sign me up.
Last night, I watched the second half of the Eagles vs Seahawks game and found myself pulling for the Eagles again because a 40 year old Josh McCown came off the bench to play in his first ever playoff game…and the dude gave it everything he had.
And for the fact that in 11min of action there is actually a lot of scoring if you consider the ball movement time.
It doesn’t make for a better game though, in my opinion. I much rather spend an hour or so watching an intense 1-0 EPL match then 3+ hours of a football game which is mostly commercials no matter how big the score is.
you’re spending over 3 hours of your fucking day to watch about 11 min of on field action. my god. think about that.
Your research methods are beyond reproach. I’m really surprised you don’t have a Ph.D.
Yes they do. You’ve tried speaking on behalf of Brits before on here and you are incredibly misinformed.
Well, to be fair, his information source is, well, some dude who knows some dude.
He’d be a key witness during some Congressional investigation
brits care about the NFL lol.
I should really play into this more often. start making some obviously fact based claims and watch you guys do cartwheels to prove me wrong lol
The NFL has been shoving this sport and all it’s glorious commercials down peoples throats all over the world for over a decade now and it has barely moved an inch. But sure, let’s pretend the sport is having an explosion of global popularity, in London or elsewhere.
Yes, you certainly should start making obviously fact based claims. This is something you’ve seemingly performed your own cartwheels to avoid doing to this point; doing so would be a nice change of pace, don’t you think?
