I am thinking of pulling the trigger, but I’m not 100% sold that Gronk is going to out-perform Hernandez this year, and definitely not sure that he will outperform him by enough to make this trade worth it since I would be giving up a starting RB for what essentially amounts to a handcuff and waiver-fodder.

Any thoughts?[/quote]

I feel like the Pats want to trade Welker, and if they do, Hernandez will get a lot of his catches… He will be a macthup nightmare.

A few things:

Not only is Nate Wash a starter there, he’s prob their “safest” WR considering the rookie-wideout & true-knucklehead status of the other two. Plenty of talk of them going three-wide plenty and opening things up this season, as well. (also keep in mind Nate was beastly when Locker played last year, check the stats)

And I’d rather have Dwyer than Redman, no question.

Agreed with your analysis, no reason to give up legit RB1 (FJax) and I’m sure Hernandito was much better draft value than Gronk, so you’d be giving that up too. Better to try and just get Dwyer for someone else, straight-up.

(imo)

edit - ok I obviously mis-read that and you wouldn’t lose F Jax. Still, I think the whole strategy of acquiring handcuffs is wildly overrated (Ben Tate being the only obvious exception) so Spiller shouldn’t be amongst your main reasons for doing the deal.

Probably wouldn’t do it. I think Nate Washington will have a good year (don’t forget, he did have something like 75 receptions, 1000+ yards, 7 TDs last year, and had great performances in the games Locker played in). It also remains to be seen what Green-Ellis will do in a system where he is featured more prominently, though the hurt foot is a bit worrisome. I think the potential upside from those two more than outweighs any difference in performance there will be between Gronk and Hernandez this year.

I was proposed this trade this morning:

I get - Gronk, Jonathan Dwyer, CJ Spiller (I already have Fred Jackson)

I give up - Hernandez, Green-Ellis, and Nate Washington

Notes: My other starting RB is Trent Richardson. I am somewhat weak at WR, but Washington is not a starter. This is a standard scoring league (no PPR). I also have Kevin Smith and Isaac Redman as backup RBs. The guy that proposed the trade overpaid for Gronk and Spiller and wants to clean it up. I’m not sure who else he has (other than Ray Rice and Brees) to deal.

I would not.Your only real gain is maybe getting spiller in case of a fred jackson injury. I for one believe in handcuff picks. Hernandez and gronk will be close to equals this year, with hernandez possibly getting reps in the slot. I do not like BGE but he is a #1 RB on a team with no legit backup, so no matter what he gets the carries, wouldnt give up on him yet. Holding onto washington is good too bc of the criminal on his team, and I love kendall wright but he is a rookie so who knows how he will pan out.

I would also like to note if i lose this week, Im cool with that since my opponent is starting BEARS D and Michael Bush, so a loss means huge game from DA BEARS

YEah that is me. I hope I win because of a FG from my kicker.

EDIT: I may swap out Bush though

Thanks for the opinions guys. I passed on the deal.

Hahaha. It certainly was this week.

Some pretty good/close match ups this week.

I’ve got a 4pt lead with the Law Firm vs The Polish Cannon tonight. Should be interesting.

Well shit Derek. That was a close match. Kudos.
