The Patriots should draft Jeff Maehl with their first round pick.

Pshhhhhhhhhhh no, we sill have Luck. I can’t decide whether I want the 49ers to do well next year though, or simply bomb the season and get a chance at Andrew.
Bump
Well, reports are that Carson Palmer is demanding a trade out of Cincy, or else he’ll retire. Most reports are also saying that he’s likely to end up in the NFC West in either SF, Arizona or Seattle (if they don’t resign Hasselback). Wherever he ends up, if it’s before the draft it’ll definitely impact it. I’ve heard that the likely candidate is SF since his wife grew up in the Bay Area. I’d like to see the Niners pick him up. I think a huge part of how the draft unfolds will hinge on where Palmer ends up, where Kolb ends up and whether or not Philly resigns Vick.
I still think Philly would like to resign Vick and keep Kolb as insurance, but Kolb may try to force his way out and into a situation where he has a legit chance to start.

DBCooper you are insane. Palmer is a horrible QB. He did nothing even though he was surrounded by offensive weapons. He had one decent year, is injury plagued, and has nothing left in his career tank.
There is no way we pick up Palmer, I will not allow it. I definitely think Carson will end up in Seattle, reunited with his college coach.

I don’t know. It seems like Cincy breeds mediocrity. I think Palmer would benefit from a change of scenery. Harbaugh is known to be a very good developer of QBs and Palmer is still a talented player whose ability could be maximized by a guy like Harbaugh. He’s not the best answer out there, but who is really available? Kolb is still under contract, Vick is intriguing but not likely to sign with SF, Hasselbeck is done, Vince Young is a born loser and there really isn’t anyone else with any sort of track record whatsoever. I’d like to see them take Gabbert, but by the 7th pick he’ll probably be gone and I don’t think there is any other QB in the draft who’s anything more than late 1st round material at best.
Newton’s a project, Locker’s a fraud, Mallett is overrated. I definitely don’t think Palmer is the answer, but I’m not sure that there’s a better option available. The York’s will never pay the kind of money Vick will want and even if they would, Vick is kinda iffy. He’ll be 31 and he’s injury-prone. He faded down the stretch and really played about 6 or 7 great games and they were early in the year, outside of the miracle against NY. I think Palmer could be good enough to keep the Niners competitive while they look around for the real answer.
I definitely think palmer could keep the niiners competitive in that division with those weapons for a year or two until they develop someone, and i also think harbaugh would do good things with him. but if it is true that hes demanding a trade i wouldnt be shocked at all to see carroll go after him like he did by picking up mike williams, which would be a good familiarity for palmer. the draft would definitely change if palmer goes somewhere prior to the draft.

Harbaugh is going to get his young project QB this off-season, that’s not a question. I do agree that we’ll also grab an older FA to play at least the beginning of next year while also teaching the project, but Palmer just simply isn’t at the top of my list.
Palmer’s injuries are just to overwhelming for me to want to take that risk, I’d honestly prefer McNabb or Bulger. If he does come here I’ll embrace it, but I’d rather go down another road.
I still think the 49ers should trade for Josh Johnson, he was a stud under Harbaugh at USD.
I’ve been tough on Newton, but if he drops to the second round and is available to the Niners there, I’d like to see them take him. I just don’t think he’s worth first round money and they’ll be too tied to him if they take him with the 7th pick. If they get him in the 2nd round, he’d be worth the experiment. I also feel the same about the kid out of Virginia Tech.
I don’t think the Niners will take a QB in the first round at all though. Gabbert will go to Arizona most likely, unless they end up with Hasselbeck or Palmer or Kolb before then. I think Vick will stay in Philly and I also think that Philly will sit on Kolb as insurance for Vick, despite the fact that this will make Kolb pretty unhappy. So the only viable option at QB in the second round will most likely be the VT guy. Like I said, I think Newton would make a great choice in the 2nd round, but I think he’s the type who would do better coming into the league without a lot of expectations and the ability to learn and study under another QB first.
McNabb is done and so is Bulger. I think Palmer has more productive years left than either of those guys. I don’t think the Shanahans know what the fuck they’re doing anymore in Washington, but I still feel that McNabb is over and done with as a competitive QB. Which is a shame because I love the guy and think he’s one of the classiest guys in the league. But he’s through. Bulger? I’d take Palmer over him. If Newton or the VT guy falls to the second round, I think a good scenario for the Niners would be to trade for Palmer and pick one of those two guys in the 2nd round to apprentice under Palmer.

Palmer is 31 and wrecked physically, Bulger is 33 and just sat out the entire year, and McNabb is only 34. We only need one of 'em to play for a year tops, than Harbaughs project will get inserted into the lineup. Palmer is going to be a starter for at least 3 more years, and he’s already starting to be a whiny little bitch. I don’t think he would like to be a mentor, especially to a kid who could beat him down with his dong (Newton).
WE NEED JOSH JOHNSON.
