2011 NCAA Tournament

3 of the Big East teams had major injuries(UL, SJU, Georgetown), and 2 of the others had to knock eachother out. Really the only ‘chokes’ by their conference are ND and Pitt, and other conferences have comparably bad showings by some of their teams.

Also east coast bias vs what? The only team that you could argue got ‘bias’ in making it in is Marquette, who is in the sweet 16. Maybe you’d argue in previous years where the committee viewed your ‘last 10’ as an important statistic(they’ve officially said they don’t do that anymore, body of work) Nova would’ve gotten busted out, but they lost to a ‘better’ seeded team anyways, even if it was from a non big-6 conference.

Injuries happen, that is part of the game. No excuse for that. BYU lost their second best player, not to injury of course, but yet they dominated in their last game. It’s bias because the talk of the season all year long was how they were the best conference and that they would stomp their non-conference opponents. It is overrated when your team best teams in your conference that are nationally ranked in the top 5 lose and don’t make it to the sweet 16. Those big east teams are just ranked higher than they should be.

This isn’t taking sides either way, but these kids [Big East] have had to play eachother all season. They’re probably a bit more banged up and fatigued than some of the other schools, especially those from smaller conferences. Not an excuse 'cause all these dudes have had to play a lot of ball, but playing Nova, UofL and UCONN back-to-back is a lot tougher than playing 3 teams from the Sun Belt. And, I get that they should be used to it and they’re “better” players, but it has to have taken it’s toll to a degree.

Every conference beats up on each other. They play two more conference games than smaller conferences. I still stand by my statement that the committee overseeded a lot of those big east teams. I like the fact there are five non big powerhouse conference teams in the sweet 16.

Apperantly you missed my point. Playing 3 games in a row in the Sun Belt is not as taxing as playing 3 in a row in the Big East. I agree that there shouldn’t be that many teams from one conference in the tourney though.

I missed the first two games because I had to work, but I heard they were good. Got to see the last two and they were blowouts in the 2nd half. I don’t think i’ve seen Duke look that bad in a long time. My bracket is offically done since Duke is out.

Didn’t catch the 1st half but during the 2nd Duke looked completely flustered. That’s as bad as I’ve seen a coach K coached team play, probably ever. 'Zona completely dominated them.

didn’t wanna gloat or boast but BYU played a helluva game this year… glad the gators pulled the win out but Jimmer at the end of regulation had me eating my couch pillow… he hits a monster three then a steal layup to tie the game from a 5 pt deficit (guy’s gonna be good in the nba)…

glad it didn’t go to Double OT.

Go Gators… (i feel like i can finally talk now after 3 seasons of disappointment)…

Man, BYU fell apart in OT. Jimmer seemed pretty injured, but he still played like a mad beat. All in all I’m not sad that that was how we went out. Of course a lot of people will ask “what ifs?” about BYU, but BYU has made their statement.

I forget the dudes name on Arizona, but he had a huge dunk right in the face of one Dude’s defenders.

I have two teams left in my bracket, Ohio state and Kansas, haha.

Did anybody get one team right in their final four bracket? What a mess this year. Two out of the twenty people i filled out brackets with had Uconn in their final four but that is it.

I had UConn, but I had them beating Duke to reach Final 4.

This is by far the hardest to pick tournament since I’ve started trying to(mid 90s?). Even the 1 seeds have some weaknesses that have been shown during the season, and once you get past the top like 6-10 teams there’s a group of like, 25 that are completely indistinguishable and equally qualified to pull upsets/make a deep deep run.

I would not be shocked at all to see a ‘low’ seed win this year, something like a 5-6 seed.[/quote]

A little self serving to make this quote, but ya. I’m pretty sure the only reason even the 2 people on ESPN’s challenge that did get the final 4 correct did so, is because you can mass entry.

Uconn/Zona I had, agonized over the decision to pick against my Buckeyes but UK’s style(and guards like B Knight) accounted for like every scary game this season including our 2 losses). If Kstate and Butler could’ve switched places I’m golden in that region, one bad pick can’t be too angry about.

That last region on the other hand… what the fuck. Like seriously how the fuck does it break down like that, who predicts that shit. The early upsets were fine and fairly predictable, but then they just kept going and going. Fuck you basketball(PS: I love you basketball).
