Terry was owning LBJ in the fourth… just blowing past him on drives… then they switched LBJ off of him hahahaha Looks like Terry was right
Let’s discuss the Mavs defense in the last few minutes of the game. They’ve done this atleast half a dozen times in these playoffs where they totally shut down the other team’s offense. Why can’t they do this throughout the game? Are the other teams getting psyched out when closing out games because they know what the Mavs have done or what?

they were playing good defense MOST of the game but they kept giving up offensive rebounds/second chance points. They also kept missing good looks (especially in the first and third quarter) that would have allowed them to open up a big lead.
If dallas woulda done a better job on the defensive glass they would won the game much more comfortably IMO

Hey don’t try and change the subject, your predictions were wrong Mr.![/quote]
Hey I’m rooting for Miami. If I were right with all my predictions, I’d be a millionaire. Still say Miami in 6. Hopefully. Bron better not “SHRINK” any further and get 6 pts.
Have no idea how we won that game but it was the best defense I have seen the Mavs play in 30 years! Won’t be sleeping for awhile.

Yeah, to echo on this, Dallas is dangerous when they get into an offensive rhythm. The thing is they haven’t really had any stretches except during comebacks where there has been any fluidity in their game. Those missed shots are keeping this series tight.
This, along with signing with the Heat in the first place is one of the main reasons why James CANNOT be considered amongst the truely elite players ever, let alone THE BEST. Yeah, Bryant has had his share of less than stellar games, and so did Jordan, but not like this, and they never ran from the moment. Those two were never shut out by any single defender, or group effort throughout a game, especially in the Finals.

My son dvr’d the game. Just watched it, and it sucks knowing the outcome.
Freaking Bron. MJ or Kobe has never scored less than 10 pts in the Finals.
I don’t know about Miami anymore, they just can’t seem to close it.
It’s easy to blame 'Bron but Wade was hot tonight, Bosh also to a lesser extent. Miami had chances down the stretch within the last minute or two to win the game. Credit the Dallas defence for the final outcome. I guess you could argue LeBron should have been more aggressive for the majority of the game but Wade and Bosh were making shots.
It’s not the regular season, you’re not not going to have each of the big 3 putting up at least 20 a piece when the average score is around 80-85. Added to that you have the sudden emergence of Mario Chalmers who is seemingly defying the power structure that exists within the Heat and playing aggressive basketball in his own right.
Moreover, the Heat don’t even make it to the Finals if not for LeBron James. His performance these playoffs is second only to Nowitzki.
O DAM!.

who’s your Finals MVP thru four games?
did Lebron’s Game4 remove him from contention?

Dirk!

Was he ever a contender? Wade outplayed him every game but the 1st. Even that one was close between the 2.
For the Mavs, I’d lean toward Peja.
I thought Miami should have been blown out last night. Lebron played like he had the flu, the whole offense looked stagnant. I thought the mavs had a ton of open looks/layups in the fourth and could have won by 10+. I thought the mavs defense looked great, miami looked confused all night they just had a better energy. I really have no idea how miami stayed in that game, I guess cause dirk had the flu.
MVP is dirk or wade depending on who wins the series. Dirk has been an assassin and wade has been in his 06 formm.
I’ll stay with my prediction Miami in 7, they leave dallas down 3-2 miami takes the last two.
Disclaimer: This is NOT a defense of LeBron James. When you are in a 1-possession game with a minute left and have DeShawn Stevenson guarding you man-to-man, you have to score on him.
That being said - do we think he was just plain exhausted? He’s averaged something like 44mins/game these playoffs. According to nba.com/statscube he has only missed 86 minutes in NINETEEN games. That HAS to be some type of record for playoff minutes.
I always thought, endurance-wise, LBJ was indestructible, but maybe I’m wrong? He looked gassed to me.

Dirk so far but that could easily change. MIA could theoretically win in 7 and if either Wade Bosh or LBJ have 3 fantastic games it could go to any of them (order of likelihood: Wade, then LBJ, then Bosh)
Great article that IMO nails LBJ’s failings last night pretty much right on the head:

I didn’t really read the article but why does there always have to be a reason. Dude just had a bad game. We can’t accept bad play anymore it seems. If he keeps playing like this some story about wade banging his mom is sure to surface lol. I just think he had a bad game no real rhyme or reason, I credit dallas.

To some extent you’re right, but we’re not talking about just a bad shooting night, which can happen to anyone (like Dirk actually). We’re talking about being totally passive the entire 4th quarter, not even TRYING to attack the basket when being guarded by Jason Kidd and DeShawn Stevenson, which is unacceptable and very uncharacteristic of him.
A bad shooting night is “just a bad game”. An entire attitude change, and change of HOW you play, becoming totally passive, is a different beast IMO. People’s game-to-game performance varies a lot but their MINDSET, especially a premier player’s, should always be the same. Especially in the Finals.
