Scj, that Bird vid was cool but he was shooting jumpers right-handed. I vaguely remember reading about that somewhere, and I assumed he literally went the whole game using just his left. Either way, guess that summer paid off. Makes you look at guys like Olajuwon and Iverson who were both league MVP’s and in Olajuwon’s case the best center of the modern era and realize that they could’ve been better if they didn’t have to go back right every single time. Iverson is probably a top 3 shot maker in NBA history [Jordan and Bryant would be the other 2, for me] and the guy had zero left hand. That’s crazy.
Yeah when I looked it up I thought I had heard every shot was left-handed. After watching it still seemed worth a post though. He did score 22pts left handed (according to the blurb; I didn’t keep track) and that’s pretty damn impressive.
Sometimes going up with your right on the left side of the basket is advised (if your right shoulder is close to the basket you can get it up quick or go under a block) but by and large it just doesn’t seem much to ask a PROFESSIONAL BBALL player, especially guards who handle the ball, to finish left handed. Always annoys me.
OKC is on fire.
Using Iverson as an example again, instead of using his left he’d actually turn his back to the basket and pull a reverse layup in traffic, thus making the shot more difficult. But, in his prime he was so quick that he could get anywhere he wanted and get that shot anytime he wanted. You gotta think though, if he could’ve developed that left hand maybe he wouldn’t have put up so many tough shots and had a higher fg%. Obviously there’s no way to tell now, just something to think about.
And, you’re right about Stern’s message that “refs are more important”. Wonder how he’s gonna backpeddle out of this one.
Go OKC!!!

You’re right - he is a classic example of a guy so athletic and dexterous that I don’t understand why he couldn’t develop it. ZGuess he just felt he didn’t need to.
OKC is quicker to everything right now. They just want it more. They are clearly playing desperate and the Mavs are just playing frustrated.
I wouldn’t count this game over yet though.
This game is crazy. I look away and OKC is up by 9, look away again and Dallas is down 2, back down by 9, down 3… All within less than 5 minutes. Whatever happens that was a huge defensive play by Shefolosha[sp?] on Terry in the open floor. OKC needs to do something here or Dallas will win this game.
This game was over, I was getting ready for bed. Dirk had an absolutely unbelievable 3-5 straight possessions.
I hope everyone who calls Dirk unclutch is forced to watch the last 4mins of this game on endless loop for eternity.
OH MY GOD
DIRK
AKA THE DIGGLER, DIRKULES, THE BLONDE BOMBER, THE GHOSTFACE DRILLAH
THE MAN HAS ICE IN HIS VEINS
Oh.My.God.
Can’t believe there was a ridiculous 17-2 run to end regulation.
Harden fouling out hurt them baaaaaaad.
oh my fucking lord.
This is why I love basketball. HOLY SHIT. Epic game, that game was historical.

lol come on man, you didn’t predict a 17-2 collapse in the last 5min.
I don’t think the Westbrook benching effected OKC at all this game, they just got Dirk’ed
Edit: You picked OKC would lose though.
The big difference in Noah’s case from Bryant’s incident is that Noah was really provoked by a stupid drunk Miami fan yelling obscenities at him. Kobe on the other hand was responding to a referee’s decision so in his case I guess you could say it more uncalled for and unnecessary. Both dudes reacted in the heat of the moment to different circumstances. No doubt both of them aren’t homophobic, it’s just an unfortunate thing how ‘faggot’ flows so good with ‘fuck.’
And I have no problem with the “refs are more important” comment. People arguing against his statements will take that quote out of context. Referees are more important when you’re out there playing a game. They’re the highest authorities on the court. You can have a problem with what a fan says but a referee’s decision warrants a level of respect and professionalism.
Can’t spell choke without OKC
Dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk e dirk DDDDDDDIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRKKKKKKKKKK
MOTHER----FUCKER!
I was dead tired at around 11 something EST and OKc was up easily by double digits and the Mavs were not gaining any traction.
So I shut the lights off and went to sleep.
Then I get to work and check this thread. The fuckin minute I turend it off must’ve been when the run started. FML.

That has to be one of the most clutch playoff performances ever.
German Jesus entered full beast mode.
holy shit and that’s the series
Dirk will get all the credit and should, but how good was j kidd down the stretch last night.
According to Haywood, “once Harden fouled out we just threw everyone at KD”. Funny how freaking James Harden became the most important player in a WCF game 4. He runs the PnR way better than anyone else on OKC because he shoots better than Westbrook (forces you to go over the screen) but ballhandles way better than KD. I would also argue he makes better on-the-fly decisions on the PnR than either of those two.
Obviously I’m not saying he’s a better overall player than KD or RW but he is better at the particular skill of running a PnR.
Also, Durant was taylor-made to be the screener in a pick-and-pop situation but he always bails out of the screen an entire second before impact, making it a non-play. Pisses me off.
