2011 NBA Playoffs

Personally, I think Wade and Lebron can tear down any defense the Mavs throw at them.

Everyone here is talking about how nobody can guard Dirk, but who on the Mavs can shutdown Wade AND Lebron?

Raj, you’re as bad about the Heat as Rand is with the Lakers. The Heat beat an old, split up Boston [don’t care what anyone says, losing Perk was huge and the Heat were 0-3 against Boston with him in the line up], and are now beating a Chicago team that can’t hit open shots to save their lives. Dallas is firing on all cylinders, and is too focused and too good to lose. Miami’s done, and this year is their best chance of winning 'cause Chicago will be a year older and stronger next year, and will surely make moves to shore up their offense this off-season. There will also be other teams that will put up a solid fight against the Heat. If they don’t win this year, and they won’t, their window is all but shut. Mavs in 6.
lol no I’m not as bad as randman, you don’t see me hurling insults around. Big difference. I don’t have a problem with healthy debate. The pic I posted was a joke, I obviously don’t think they will 8-peat but I can’t see them losing this year.

I think it’s pretty ridiculous to say Miami is ‘done’ and this will be their ‘only chance of winning,’ you are just as anti-Heat as I am pro-Heat. You’ve basically given them NO credit these playoffs and yet they keep proving you wrong.

It’s pointless to look at how the Heat fared against teams during the regular season when they basically spent the whole season learning to play together, especially with Boston who they played 2 games very early in the season.

Well, you don’t really have to raj. Remember, there’s only ball out there (and MIA still seems confused about who their closer should be)
Really? Seems pretty clear it’s whoever has the hotter hand to me. Close by committee

pretty positive he’s referring to DAL here

I don’t think so.

EDIT: Actually I’m not sure anymore.

His reference to the East team Chicago getting better makes me think he’s talking about the Heat.

I would say OKC will be a bigger hurdle to DAL next year.

Actually, I completely agree with raj from earlier: CHI is still one more scorer away from being a true contender.

Though I think Deng just might be that guy, very impressed with his play on both sides of the court in this series. To be productive offensively while having to guard James gets MUCH respect in my eyes, similar to what Truth used to do during all those deep playoff runs by BOS

Chillain, that’s badass. What was the atmosphere there like?
x2. Also, were you chanting “Barkley Sucks!”? lol
1 - crazy buzz in the arena. You can see why James must think he actually is a god, the way that crowd treats him. The other guy who gets nearly as much love? Haslem

2 - those Barkley sucks chants were going on pre-game and post-game. What you don’t catch from TV coverage is just how much Chuck is egging on the crowd during commercial breaks. Very entertaining.

3 - Joe Jeezy and Josh Smith arrived while I was still outside the arena trying to book my return flight home. Johnson easily had ~50k around his neck but I expected MUCH better groupie talent outta the A.
4 - not sure how I neglected to mention this earlier, but watching D Rose cover ~90ft in all of about 2.3 seconds was prob the most amazing thing period. Has to be seen live to appreciate how someone can be that quick while still being in complete control. (also makes me feel very dumb for hyping the rookie Wall the way I was earlier in this thread)

James gets more love than Wade? In Miami? That’s crazy. That’s funny about the ATL broads. I’ve been around a handful of NBA cats in different situations, and there’s about a 50/50 fine to busted ratio on the broads they’re with. I will say that the chick I’ve seen Bob Sura with a few times is one of the best looking women I’ve ever seen. She’s hot as fuck.
I think its the novelty factor. They know that Wade already knows he’s always been their guy so it’s like an extended welcome for the newcomer.

Best NBA groupies I’ve seen were back when Las Palmas was the wed night spot out here. A friend had her bday dinner there so were able to get in early and stay. Around 10:30pm, Heff and his entourage got to their booth which was adjacent to Dr Buss’s booth. And then around 11:30pm, the Lakers showed up (it was game night). The talent that was hounding Foxy and D Fish and Horry were simply insane…

I take it you’re in Miami? One of my ex’s was a bartender at SET in South Beach. I’ve only been there once, but some of the women out there are ridiculous. It’s like walking through a Puff Daddy video.

I’ve heard bottle service is something ridiculous in Miami clubs - some clubs charge up to $1,300/bottle.

In Toronto you can get premium alchol bottle service (Grey Goose) for $250/bottle.

Dude, South Beach on the whole is ridiculous. A bud light was something like 11 bucks. A cape cod was like $17 with goose. Fortunately my ex was a bartender so everything was comped, but if you’re not famous or a trust fund kid I don’t know how you could afford it.

Nah WF, I’m in LA

It was my first-ever swing down to south beach and we were actually at Set on both friday and sunday nights. (crazy markups no doubt – Vegas has become similarly shameless lately – but when your best friend is an investment banker, life is good

Did y’all dig it? It’s fun man, but after I hit about 25 that whole scene became too “trendy” for me. I can only do the clubs every now and again now. One of my good buddies is getting married around Halloween and we’re going to Vegas for his bachelor party. This’ll be my first time and I’m already sweating the bill, and the hangover haha.

My brother-in-law use to be an investment banker, dude would work 90-100 hours a week including past midnight on Saturdays. He wouldn’t even grocery shop because the company would just buy them takeout as they worked.

But I’m not surprised that your buddy picked up the bill. They don’t go out often, but when they do they drop tons of $$$$ and go nuts. A few grand in one night? No problem.

^^^^ Must be nice. I drop 50 bucks and I’m ready to cry.

You hit the nail on the head, WF. By the end of the weekend, I was starting to realize that all that club stuff was mostly an attempt to recapture our 20s. Sure was fun, but nothing I’m looking to sustain anymore at all.

Let me know before you head to vegas. I’m still out there fairly regularly (its basically a suburb of LA) and still in the info loop…

Haha, yeah man. I’m 29 now, but my early-mid 20’s I dated a series of bartenders back to back and burned myself out on the scene really fast. It’s so fake. Still in contact with most of the chicks and all of their “friends” from the scene disappeared when they got out.

Thanks man. I’ll shoot you a pm when we’re closer to making the move. Mavs in 6.

Mavs are gonna get raped by the Heat. LBJ wants it too bad and that X Factor Haslem is back in action. Tough for the Mavs since I’m a big Dirk fan, but the Heat are gonna stay down and run Jet,Kidd,Peja off the 3 point line and let Dirk drop his 30 one on one. Having to keep Stevenson and Marion on the court for D is really going to hurt their offense. Especially when Miami is going to their money lineup of LBJ,Wade,Miller,Haslem,Bosh.

Is that an avatar of Shawn Bradley getting dunked on? Oh yes it is… awesome.

When Miami goes to that “money lineup” they’re gonna get crushed by ball movement and outside shooting. Miami’s in way over their heads.

WF,

Miami’s defense gets too much credit? So, MIA defense is overrated on the whole? If so, how did they have one of the best defenses in the regular season? (#1 or #2, with CHI taking the other spot)

Man, I hear you guys on the bar/club scene. I’m 28 and it just feels off to me. I want to be somewhere quiet or at a friend’s place, BBQ’ing and drinking and shooting the shit. No lines, no covers, no ugly music blaring.
