SWC was great, some real good grudge matches in that conference. Don’t tell any hog fans, but I am one of the few who actually think we belong in the Big 12. No way we ever leave the SEC (esp with Big 12 in limbo and all the money we make in the SEC) but I do feel we have more natural rivals in Big 12. I know the ARK-TX game doesn’t mean as much to TX as it does to us, but that game needs to happen every year. Instead we get A&M for the next 10 years…

Me too, that is why I wanted Texas to go into the SEC for a super conference, where we have those teams above in the west division. Just rename it the South Conference. [/quote]
Too bad Texas was scared, we almost got A&M but they couldn’t take their lips off of the Texas tit! I would love for the SEC to somehow get OU, TX, A&M, even if we had to take shitty OSU. That would make for a great conference. You wouldn’t even have to play non-conf games, just monsters every week.

I don’t think it was widely reported, but the SEC did talk to Oklahoma about joining the SEC. The only problem was that the SEC didn’t want Oklahoma State, so OU decided against it.

I wish it was just scared cause pressure could force them to step up. This is about MONEY unfortunatly Texas makes the most for the Big 12 and their slice of the pie would be less being in the SEC. We are all fans, but to the schools this is now a business.

Another reason why we’ll never see a playoff system in our lifetimes…lol.

No doubt. I think one day it will happen tho. I am just glad they didn’t head to the Pac 10, that made no sense from a football standpoint, not sure about moneywise. Flying all over the freaking country to play Washington? Stanford? Yuck

Not unless they can make more money that way. At some point I think they will get a system, the really old die hards will die. Seems the new generation of leaders want a some type of playoff.

Playoff would be nice, i think they should have 8 conferences, then each winner of the conference gets into the playoffs and go from there. I know this has flaws but I would like to see some kind of playoff someday.
^^A playoff would be amazing but I don think we’ll see it. I wish but I dont see it happening

Lol, I love the inevitability of this conversation in NCAA threads every year.
Yes, it’d be wonderful… but you know what’s crazy? A recent poll conducted on a significant amount of D1 NCAA football players actually found that most players would only be interested (~52% of players) in an 8-team playoff, less than 30% would be interested in anything higher than that.
No sources or anything, I was watching some show on ESPN when this information was discussed. Something interesting to think about.
Sure, the BCS won’t be around forever, but it’s not going to change into a playoff system anytime soon.

I think that even with tutors, playing that level of football for that long would make academics very very tough. I wrestled in college for a season and it destroyed my grades, I think the stress of playing on national TV would make football way more draining than wrestling. Given that, I think I would have probably voted for an 8 game system, I understand people not wanting any more than that.
Has anyone been watching the coverage of Bama’s camp on ESPN? Nick Saban’s office door is awesome.
I am looking forward to seeing how all the young QBs do. I really think this season is up for grabs as far as a championship is concerned. As a lot of people have said, Boise State has a great shot at making if they go undefeated.

PSU at 19? Hey AP voters, want me to turn this up for ya?
^^You think they should be higher than 19? They’re what… 3rd best in their conference?

Hahaha man… I just can’t watch that show without cringing. I have anti-Bama boiled into my blood. I watched it for about 2/3 of an episode and had to bail.

???
They have a completely unproven AND young quarterback at the helm… facing off against teams like Ohio State, Wisconsin, (possibly) Iowa and a slew of talented defenses.
19 is just about right.

Or lower, sorry but the Big 10 has not impressed in bowl games in my opinion. Flame away but I am more impressed with the ACC.

Big Ten will be good this season, trust. Iowa, Ohio State, and Wisconsin (but not Penn State) are all legit teams.
BTW, in case you guys haven’t seen it, check this out for some lul’z:

All three of those teams are good but not great teams. The ACC has the worst division of any conference, the Coastal, and if Miami isn’t very good the ACC isn’t going to have a team to hang its hat on. VT will only be decent this year.

I was reading that Hater’s Guide to the 2010 BCS rankings (awesome, by the way,) and they brought up a point… Virginia Tech is CONSISTENTLY one of the most overrated programs in the nation ever year. I swear they’ve had a 6 or higher ranking for like the last decade.
Sure, Frank Beamer knows special teams. Whoopdee-doo.

It’s because they’re always a shoe-in to win the ACC, which even as weak as it can be means you’ll get some votes and a decent ranking. Blame FSU/Miami for taking the last 8 years off(and FSU apparently set to take a few more at least).
