I’m assuming you meant OU and typed an extra S in for some odd reason? Cause OSU looked very beatable today @ a weak Illini team. I wouldn’t be surprised to see Oregon jump to #2 now because of it tbh.
reading comprehension fail.

you’re both talking about Ohio State lol
Hahahahaha.

Gregron, your a USC fan right? You coming up for the game next weekend? Both teams are going to be hungry for a rebound, should be a sick game.

Yeah I’m a SC fan and I was at the game yesterday. I went with my girlfriend who went to UW. We were there with a bunch of her friends and actually sat in the UW fan section… it was terrible! hahaha

but all the UW fans there were pretty accepting of me being in a sea of purple. After the game when we were walking to our car some other SC fans yelled “You should be ashamed of yourself” it was pretty hilarious… but yeah what a shitty way to lose. Our D sucks balls this year. We cant stop anyone when it counts.

I wish I could go to that game. I’m sure it’ll be a good one but I dont think I could take a second loss in a row in person lol. You going to the game?

It would be awesome if SC could pull out a win but our D is just too soft this year. No way we’ll get the stops that we need.

hahaha!

Fucking USC Defense has more holes in it than swiss cheese. They couldn’t tear up a paper bag. It is getting to the point where the offense simply must out score the other offense.

Oregon is better than OSU in my opinion, they came back from what looked like what was going to be a route, to winning the game. Stanford imploded, because when they are firing on all cylinders, they are as good as any top 5 team in the country.

After watching the game yesterday, I think Oregon is easily #2 in the country, and I wouldn’t argue with anybody that wanted to put them #1. I really don’t think any team in the country can keep up with that offense.

Yup. Some of the worst defensive play I’ve ever seen. UW converted a 3rd and 14, a 3rd and 18, and a 4th and 11 on the way to scores. USC still doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt on any penalties (there were some GLARING holds by UW that were not called, and Shareece’s hit on that receive was hardly “targeting”; he hit him square in the shoulder) but the defense is terrible. The secondary is next to useless with the possible exception of Shareece Wright. The linebackers are horrible and the D line is slightly below average.

Aside from their drive-killing penalties, the biggest problem with the offense is that there is no sense of urgency. They shrug their shoulders when they miss out on easy scoring opportunities, seemingly on the assumption that they will have many more throughout the game. What they fail to understand is that they are going to have to win shootouts against everyone they play. The defense couldn’t stop a car with four square wheels from rolling uphill. The offense is going to have to score on two of three possessions from here on out if USC is going to have a chance.

Trouble is, Barkley is a mediocre QB. I honestly have a hard time remembering a time he made a clutch play to win the game. The only real exception is the OSU game last year, but even then all he did was hit guys for short passes who got lots of YAC on their own. He is basically John David Booty: a reliable QB who will manage the game, but cannot be expected to make the big-time, clutch plays you need to win close games. A Palmer or Leinart he is not.

I agree completely. Ohio State is overrated. I have no idea why all the commentators had their lips around Pryor’s dick all pre-/early season. A year ago, people were calling him overrated. Then all of a sudden he was God’s gift. Anyone think it might be something in between? Ohio State is a decent team, but they have played absolutely no one. Miami is shitty and that is their signature win so far. Talk to me after they’ve gone to Camp Randall and shut down Dennard Robinson (who looks like the type of QB everyone thought Pryor would be).

My top 5:

 1. Alabama
 2. Oregon
 3. Boise State
 4. Ohio State
 5. Oklahoma

When a team gives up 626 yards and 52 points in a game that is not a top 5 team in the country. Oregon appears to be a good team they have had a pretty easy schedule so far. I thought Stanford was decent until yesterday. Maybe we will get to see who is better between OSU and Oregon again this season. Last year it was OSU.

I’m going to have to agree even though I think Stanford is a good team. Its hard to say you’re that caliber a team when your dfeense gets sodomized like that. I can’t imagine giving up numbers like that to anybody just from being a little off. There has to be a systemic weakness somewhere for being that porous.

in an interview after the game Barkley said he was too conservative with his decision making and was concentrating on not throwing interceptions.

He’s still young (only in his 5th game of his sophomore year) so he’ll mature and get better but yeah… you cant play scared of throwing picks

This is not necessarily a bad thing. One of the best things a QB can do is not turn the ball over. Greg McElroy comes to mind as a solid, reliable QB who doesn’t turn the ball over too much (first half against Arkansas aside). The problem is that, to be successful, such a QB needs to be surrounded by (1) a solid run game, and (2) a solid defense. We have a decent run game, but absolutely no defense. Hence, Barkley is going to have to force the issue or the team is going nowhere fast.

Is it me or did he seem to do much better when they rolled the pocket and let him throw on the bootleg? Come to think of it, you know who else kicked ass out of the bootleg? John. David. Booty. Watch the 2007 Rose Bowl against Michigan. First half, he was passing out of the pocket. Result? 3-3 tie at the half. In the second half, he was rolling out on the bootleg. Result? Four touchdowns.

I think if we continue to emphasize the power run game and start letting Barkley roll out more, we can start putting more points on the board.

A few random thoughts:

 1. I see why Brice Butler was passed over by Woods. Butler hasn’t really done much at all. I’d rather see Ausberry in as the third receiver.

 2. Where in God’s name is Baxter? Can’t we put him in as a slot receiver or scat back and throw him some screens or something?

 3. We have zero chance of beating Stanford or Oregon.

Barkley did not lose the game, nor did Baxter, Woods, or Butler.

The worthless excuse of a defense is what caused them to lose. Every single defensive player should be ashamed of themselves. This problem has plagued itself since the beginning of the season (poor tackling, lack of execution, lack of physicality.) I have seen too many blown assignments for me to stay quiet any further.

In 1994, we lost to Penn State so badly, the following Monday after the game, players helmets were removed from their lockers and replaced with a Kotex pad. A note was written, it said, “if you plan on playing like this in the future, you might as well wear these instead.”

I was proud of my Huskers last night, good win over KSU. I was especially happy how our defense held Thomas to 68 yards rushing when he averages 157 a game.

Next up is Texas, it will be a good game to watch.

Yes revenge is sweet. This will be a beat down sadly.

I’m thinking so as well. Nebraska is a LOT better this year than I thought they’d be… and I thought they were a top 10 team coming in!

I know it’s a little early, but if Nebraska beats Texas there aren’t going to be too many more major obsacles in the path to a NC appearance.

They’re good… and they’re not gimmicky. They’re also winning with ground control and stellar defense. Husker fans should be pretty excited right now.

I think the one game that stands between us and the NC is the Big 12 game, I think we will play OK, and it depends on which OK team shows up till be the factor, if it the one that played FSU then it will be a hard fought game, but if its the one that has struggled to get the win, then Nebraska will leave the BIG 12 with the title in hand.

But first, Texas! This will be a good game to watch.

Good game.

Gamecocks rolls over the Tide.

Hmmmmm… Tide got rolled.

Good college football day already, regardless of tonight’s game against LSU.

Shoelaces were meant to be tied, by the way.

I respectfully disagree. The defense is atrocious and some of the worst I’ve ever seen, but I was also struck by the absence of a sense of urgency by the O. They played too damn conservative for a team with that bad of a defense. When the D sucks, the O needs to pick up the slack, and vice versa. The reason I’m picking on the O is because I think they are legitimately underachieving. The D blows, but let’s face it: There are not that many (if any) stellar athletes on that side of the ball. But the O is loaded at ever single position. What is their excuse?

Last year, Nebraska’s offense was one of the worst in the country. Instead of just shrugging their shoulders and letting the team slide, Nebraska’s D clamped down and took it upon themselves to try to win every game without the offense helping.

USC’s offense is going to have to do the same thing and they have that potential. But USC’s defense is not going to get any better. In fact, I think things well get worse as the season goes on. We are one big injury at linebacker away from a complete meltdown.
