The stats only tell part of the story. Deng kept them in the game and Rose took em over the top. And Rose WAS the Bulls offense today. I’d say the commentators were slobbering all over Rose’s balls but then he kept proving them right.
But let’s see Dwight do that while he needs someone to pass him the ball at exactly the right time and when he’s in the right place with the defenders in the right place with…you get my point.

shouldn’t have been so quick to post

Not really, i stick by my first half assessment. Collison shouldn’t be in double figures in the first half.

ROSE 4 MVP[/quote]
Yeah but Dwight won’t let the guy he’s guarding put up more points in one half than he averaged during the season.
Now that I’ve thought more about that Bulls game, as much as I love Rose we are going down if he has to do that every game. If no one else can create their own shot against the freaking Pacers we are in trouble.
In particular, Boozer getting outscored 35-6 (approximately) in his matchup against Hansbrough is troubling. Also I think Deng could’ve had 25 if he asserted himself.
I’ll take the win, but that one was supposed to be a lot easier. And I’m not going to pretend like Rose didn’t cost us several points on the defensive end letting Collison into the lane.
By the way, the basketball analyst in me is furious that in a playoff game LBJ refuses to post up Jrue Holiday. But the fan in me is loving that it’s keeping PHI in the game.
It’s too early to worry about whether the Bulls offense is too dependent on Rose’s scoring. There’s no way it will end up like Cleveland last year, because the Bulls have way more options and a much better overall team than Cleveland did last year.
The real problems that made the game so close [and almost a loss, even] were a few Pacers players having great outside shooting nights, better what’s regularly expected of them, as well as an off day defensively for the otherwise great Bulls.
And even if you look at Rose alone-- I don’t think he’s nearly as dependent on favourable calls on offense as LeBron was last year. Rose seems to avoid contact as much as possible when getting into the paint [of course he still gets some] and he’s a better finisher than James IMO. His biggest problem offensively today was being 0-9 from beyond the arc. And I kind of like that he didn’t get scared by it, although maybe he could have taken a couple less. So even if he did end up carrying the offense I think they’d have a better shot against Boston than Cleveland did last year.
But it doesn’t matter anyway because the Bulls defense will win them the games.

It’s only one game man, he’ll do better next game.

haha I misread your post–I thought you had said he was messing up on offense [I assumed because of his shooting].
So the Magic get almost literally NOTHING from people not named Howard or Nelson. Nobody else on the team scoring more than 6 points, Nelson has more offensive rebounds than the rest of the team(except Howard) combined. Being a Cavs fan I’ve had my chances to joke about ‘lol playing 1 on 5’ or ‘2 on 5’ before, but I dunno if it has ever been more true than this game.

Honestly I do not know what is up with Turkoglu. Ever since the Magic traded him he hasn’t been the same player. It’s frustrating to watch him play now and then reminisce about his game those years where me was Mr. Reliable and Mr. Clutch.

Him and J-Rich are both not so far removed from being all-star level players. They should be embarrassed to have the offensive performances they just had, especially when it’s not like they played any sort of redeeming level of defense, or put any work in on the glass. They were complete wastes of space on the floor.
The Pacers played 45 1/2 minutes of awesome basketball. Rose played well, but his numbers are misleading. He went 0-9 [I think] from 3 and was forcing the issue at the expense of getting his team involved. Part of that was due to Boozer’s foul trouble and part of it is I think he’s buying into his own press clippings. It worked out great for the last 3 or so minutes, but he was really forcing some questionable shots earlier in the game to the detriment of the team. And, he might be the most hyped guy in the league now, replacing LBJ. Listening to the announcers was getting ridiculous. He’s fast, but he is not the fastest guy in the league now. I’m not even sure he’s faster than Collison, who has track in his blood. But, if you listened to the announcers he’s the fastest guy in NBA history. I will say his first step and body control are off the charts, and he takes contact in the air as well as anyone in the league right now. Also, Hansbrough is AUTOMATIC from the foul line extended. The net wasn’t even moving. Woulda liked to see the Pacers close it out, but all in all it was a damn good game. Interested to see how the Pacers bounce back in game 2. I’m predicting a much more dominant Bulls win.
