Anyone else get the feeling participation in this thread is going to drop very quickly once the Lakers get eliminated?
since NYK was eliminated MattyXL and sam_sneed barely post
There’s a few California guys (plus WF is a Laker fan) in this thread, I can see this place getting pretty quiet soon.
LOL, I’ve been posting since the Knicks got the boot. I had a few Wednesday and Thursday. I’ve just been sick since Thursday.
I did catch the entire Lakers game and they’re toast. Odd that no one has given Fisher any shit. That dumb foul on the wing with the shot clock expiring was huge but none of the commentators seemed to focus on it. Interesting. The post game interview with Kobe was bizarre as well.
I’m pulling for the Heat to win it all now. I really don’t care for Lebron at all, but would like to see Wade get another ring and enjoy watching him play so hopefully they can at least make it to the Finals. I think the only team in the West in the playoffs that can beat them is the Lakers and they’re not coming from 3-0 so the Heat have a very good chance at the title the way they’re playing.

I agree Fisher deserves part of the blame, but he is just a role player. Gasol is #2 and is expected to produce. The Lakers can win even if Fisher gives them nothing all series. But they are toast without a regularly contributing Gasol.
If Bryant really believes this [and isn’t just trying to motivate his team] then I’m with him. But, he’s gonna have to come out guns blazin’ tomorrow for me to even halfway buy into it. If he doesn’t, then we know it’s just posturing. Gotta be honest, I’m pretty pumped to see what’s gonna happen.

Anyway, the perspective of LAL fans is that dramatic finishes and near-escapes have become par for the course by now (anyone remember Game 7 of the 2000 West Finals??) and this is simply more of the same. In other words, LAL has gotten away with “procrastination” before, so why not now?
^^^Because they would have to pull off the greatest comeback in NBA history in order to do so.
I could see the Mavs losing game 4 and MAYBE game 5, but there’s no way they’re beating them 4 in a row. Not going to happen.
Yawn. This DAL team isn’t exactly known for their “killer instinct” and close-out ability

Dirk isn’t known as a closer but that dude is fucking cold blooded.
This series is fucking awesome. Tony Allen might be the best perimeter defender in the league, and as I said before Westbrook’s buying into his own press clippings at the expense of the team. 4 seconds left… C’mon Grizz!
OT! OKC and MEM fittingly traded terrible offensive possessions to end the half. Durant gets it 35 feet from the hoop with 4 seconds on the clock, then Z-Bo ends regulation with a contested 3. Egads.

raj - meet me halfway (9-1) and you’re giving me something to think about
as you said earlier, there is no precedent…

9-1 odds on how big of a bet?
$50 payout for me $450 for him. Would you take either side of that bet?
I was asking him if he wanted to make the bet with me since you said you couldn’t.
I need to think about it though… those are good odds but not sure if I want to risk everything I’ve won on bball this year on a single bet just to win $50

When OKC loses this game, it will basically be all Westbrook’s fault. Regardless of how the rest of the game went, when it got into crunch time he went right back to the player we saw in game 1. Three possessions in the final minute of regulation he brings the ball up and settles for a mediocre shot with no ball movement at all and misses.
In the first half he played awesome, 8 assists, almost all of his 8 FGA’s were aggressive to the basket. 2nd half he only gets 4 assists on 11 FGA’s, a handful of which are of the variety I described above.
Now, Tony Allen has his hand in part of that, doing a great job denying Durant that ball; but Durant isn’t the only other player on the team, Westbrook needs to be feeding other people if he can’t get it to KD and can’t get a good look, dunno why he won’t do it.

Agree, though I’d go so far as to say Westbrook was good for 3 whole quarters and only bad in one. Even when Durant DID get the ball though, he seemed surprisingly incapable of getting a good shot off. As I’m typing this he bricked a wide open 3.
Westbrook offensive foul. Good god, the Thunder have been bad the last 20 minutes.
Just a bizarre offensive meltdown by the Thunder. Good D by the grizz no doubt, but they made themselves easy to defend. Nothing but iso’s for Westbrook and Durant (mainly Westbrook). Playing Sefalosha-Ibaka-Perkins down the stretch made them go 2-on-5 on offense. Not sure I agree with that call.
