Told Ya’ll Kobe was the MVP.

It wasn’t even close.

of course that was just about the only thing I got right with my first round predictions.
Long overdue for Kobe. I think he should have won at least one of the MVP’s the year Nash won both of his, especially the year he led the league in scoring at 35+ PPG. However, I will say this is well deserved this year.

He led the Lakers to the top seed in the extremely tough West, got his teammates involved, and was a better overall team player this year (plus he jumped over a car lol). I already felt he was the best in the league, and this solidifies it.

Congrats Kobe.

Tuesday, May 6th Recap:

 1. Celtics defeat 4) Cavs 76-72: Kevin Garnett scored 28 points, and Rajon Rondo added 15 as the Celtics go up 1-0 in the series. Zydrunas Ilgauskas had 22 and 12 boards, and LBJ had 12 points on 2-18 shooting as the Cavs only shot 30 percent as a team.

Stud of the Night: Kevin Garnett. 28 points, 8 boards, and a 1-0 series lead makes him an easy choice. My favorite player looking solid, as usual.
Sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good.

Which is less likely to continue this series will be a very big variable: LeBron going 2-17 from the field (including that missed layup that would’ve tied the game with 8 ticks left) with 10 to’s vs. Pierce and Allen combining for all of four points.

Very odd game, and Boston ought to let out a sigh of relief that they didn’t blow the game when LeBron had a huge off-night.

I was watching beginning of that game and it was just ugly, turnovers easy missed shots. Glad didn’t want the whole thing as it was very low scoring and sloppy game.

Oh yeah gratz to Kobe, he has been the best player in the NBA for awhile about time he got the MVP award. This year however was the first year he seemed like a leader, before he was just relying on his ridiculous skill to win all the games instead of making his team better.

Yeah, the Celtics played like they were feeling the effects of a seven-game series and Cleveland looked rough, too. One thing about these Celtics, as good as they were during the regular season, this is a team without much playoff experience, hence the difficulties in Atlanta. I expect them to have similar road problems throughout the playoffs.

You should be glad, i did watch it and I don’t know why…

Wednesday, May 7th Recap:

 1. Magic defeat 2) Pistons 111-86: Rashard Lewis scored 33 points on 11 of 15 shooting, Dwight Howard had 20 and 12 boards, and the Magic cut the series down to 2-1. Rip Hamilton had 24 and Tayshaun Prince added 22 for the Pistons in defeat.

 2. Lakers defeat 4) Jazz 120-110: Kobe Bryant scored 34 points, and Lamar Odom with a beast of a game with 19 and 16 points, and the Lakers have yet to lose this playoff season. Deron Williams added 25 and 10 assists, and seven Jazz players scored in double figures, but it wasn’t enough to tie the series.

Stud of the Night: Rashard Lewis. A playoff career high 33 points, as well as a lights-out shooting performance, helped his Magic close the gap in the series, and have some momentum heading into game 4.

I wish Rashard Lewis would get to the rack more often, or at least finish better on the rare occasions when he does get there.

Good to see Deron Williams finally get going. Love his game and heart.

Also, I still cannot understand why Doug Collins doesnt’ call the ABC weekend games as well. In terms of insight, he’s been the best commentator and by a wide margin and it’s been that way for years now.

Absolutely suffocating defense by Boston tonight, plus Pierce and Allen got back on track. LeBron is still missing a lot of open looks, though, and I expect him to absolutely explode when they go back to Cleveland.

Cleveland has a lot more playoff experience than this Boston team and the C’s went 0-3 vs. Atlanta on the road, so Boston can’t get cocky and start thinking this thing is over. If they do, they’ll head back to Boston tied at 2.

I find it amusing how Paul Pierce and Ray Allen “came back strong” with 19 and 16 points, respectively, but LeBron got “shut down” with 20 points.

Thursday, May 8th Recap:

 1. Celtics defeat 4) Cavs 89-73: The C’s Big 3 combined for 48 points, and Leon Powe added 11 off the bench as the Celtics take a 2-0 lead heading into Cleveland. LeBron James scored 21 points on another bad shooting, and is hoping him and his team find their stroke when they head home.

 2. Spurs defeat 2) Hornets 110-99: Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili scored 31 points each, and the Spurs climb back into the series with a big win at home. Chris Paul as usual went off, scoring 35 and adding 9 assists, and David West had 23 and 12 rebounds.

Stud of the Night: Manu Ginobili. Getting the start tonight proved to be beneficial for the Argentinian, scoring 31 points and making this series interesting again.

And last but not least, rounding out the awards for this year is the MVP, which went to Kobe Bryant. Long overdue, but finally got it. Congrats Kobe.

And nice suit as well.

Is it just me, or is anyone else FLOORED on how ridiculously good CP3 is playing this year in the playoffs? He had an awesome regular season, and is having a better postseason.

Check out his stats:

Game 1 vs. Mavs: 35 and 10 dimes
Game 2 vs. Mavs: 32 and 17 dimes
Game 3 vs. Mavs: 16 and 10 dimes
Game 4 vs. Mavs: 16 and 8 dimes
Game 5 vs. Mavs: 24, 15 dimes, 11 boards

Game 1 vs. Spurs: 17 and 13 dimes
Game 2 vs. Spurs: 35 and 9 dimes

For his first seven games of his playoff career, that is beyond ridick. He keeps this up, he’ll be one of the best to play the game.

He is amazing. Had the pleasure of seeing/following him throughout his high school time and even then he was earmarked for greatness. To be playing at this level so quickly though is unreal even by the lofty expectations he’s always had placed on him.

Would not be surprised to see the Hornets take Game 4.

What’s LeBron, 8-40 from the floor in this series? Can’t imagine he won’t turn it up back in Cleveland.

I completely agree. Watching Chris Paul and Tony Parker trading baskets last night was something else. Those two guards facing off against each other is a real treat and then throw in Ginobli and this series is a guard highlight reel.

My boys were back last night. I think they’ll take game 4 on Sunday. If they do this series is going 7. I would encourage everyone to tune in to this series just to watch the incredible guard play. (Hopefully no more third quarter collapses) Chris Paul is special and Tony Parker aint too shabby either.

Whoever isn’t watching this series is really missing out.

Just DON’T tune into Celtics vs Cavs

Yeah you’re right. He’s on a Jordan commercial where it shows the scoreboard where he scored 61 points in a high school game. And you’re right again, to be this good this early in his career is phenomenal. Heck, he finished second in the MVP in his third year in the league. Beastly.

I’m from Oklahoma City, and had the pleasure of watching him play his first two years in OKC. Great player and a great person as well, did a lot of good stuff for the community. I wish him nothing but continued success.

Yeah the mono a mono matchup with Paul/Parker was awesome! That’s what makes the NBA Playoffs great, two stud players going at it. They should just play one on one and see who wins.

I’ve often thought it would be a fun event at the all-star weekend to have some 1-on-1 with some of the all-stars. Although there is a lot of ego on the line with a 1-on-1, it might be too serious for the schedule.
